He plays downhill and with confidence. Schlarman does a great job at blowing up the backfield as an outside linebacker. He’s explosive, but athletic enough that he can drop back in coverage and defend the pass. However, he’s most impressive when defending against the run, stuffing gaps, and pursuing the football. Schlarman has an updated frame of 6’2″ and 210 pounds heading into his third high school season. He currently holds offers from EKU and Miami (OH), but visited UK for junior day this past year.

He lines up at outside linebacker where he is very impressive against the run. Schlarman diagnoses the play quickly then uses his speed to get to the ball carrier with a sense of urgency to make the tackle. Ben finished this past season with 55 tackles and nine tackles for loss in 12 games. He has also proven to be reliable in coverage, coming away with an interception and returning it for a touchdown as a sophomore. Ben also scored a rushing touchdown this past season. Schlarman holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect his recruitment to continue to heat up heading into his junior year.

He finished his sophomore season with 55 tackles and nine tackles for loss in 12 games. Schlarman also came away with one interception and returned it for a touchdown, and scored a rushing touchdown this season. Ben currently holds any offers from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop over the next two seasons.

He plays with a ton of physicality when taking on blocks, showing the ability to stack and shed opposing offensive linemen with ease. Once he sheds the block, Schlarman has shown the speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry to make the tackle in the open field. Ben finished this past season with 24 tackles and three tackles for loss in 14 games. He also finished his junior year with half a sack. Schlarman currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop.
