Avella slides into our updated rankings just inside the top 10 at the quarterback position, and inside the top 25 overall within Idaho. This is a loaded 2026 quarterback class and he is one of the more productive passers of the bunch. He shows he can get the ball out quickly and move through his progressions, navigate the pocket and feel pressure while keeping his eyes downfield. Avella also puts good touch on his intermediate throws, throwing his receivers open and shows he can fit the ball into tight windows across the middle of the field. He is very accurate on the run as well and does not lose zip on the ball while on the move.

Avella has been one of the top passers across Idaho this season, and will lead Bishop Kelly into the state playoff’s once again, where they should be the frontrunner to take home yet again another state title. He has ideal size for the position, a strong arm and plus accuracy downfield and has really shown increased arm strength since his Sophomore season and the courage to fit it into tight windows downfield this year. In the final week of the regular season, Avella was efficient and threw for nearly 200 yards and 2 scores, while adding another score with his legs on the ground. He will be a name to note as we move through the post season, and should put up some impressive performances through out the playoff’s leading to the 5-A state title game.

Avella has been one of the more efficient passers across Idaho through the first half of the season and is one of the top Junior signal callers in the state, checking into our rankings as a top-five prospect. He had another solid showing this week throwing for over 200 yards yet again and 4 touchdowns against Columbia in a 54-0 route. Bishop Kelly shows no signs of slowing down after coming off a state title a year ago, and seems to have their quarterback of the future in Avella.

Avella is a big time prospect at the quarterback position with a snappy release and strong arm downfield that can make all the throws from the pocket, and knows when to buy time with his legs. On tape, he shows that he is a on schedule thrower, that is comfortable both fitting the ball in tight windows with out-breaking and in-breaking routes, while putting nice touch on the deep ball and velocity on it in order to let his receivers run underneath it. He is tough to bring down in the pocket due to his lower body strength and pressure awareness, and is a no brainer next level kid and one of the top returning players across the state.
