Lange had a breakout sophomore season and helped lead a Chaparral offense to 185 rushing yards per game and 310 passing yards per game.
He really excelled as a pass protector from the left tackle spot with a strong first step and stays within his frame. Lange has a good initial punch and uses his long arms to create separation between him and the defender. He is a solid finisher as a run blocker but could get off his blocks a little quicker to the second level. That is a skill that will easily develop with the more reps he has. He competed at the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase with an injury and looked athletic for his size. Lange has offers from UCLA, Oregon State and San Diego State among others.
Lange is a high upside OT tackle with rare physical traits. 6’9” 295 lbs. his length in combination with good weight distribution in his frame still gives him great growth potential. Fires off the ball with good initial quickness on the snap while showing natural bend, foot speed, and movement skills for a player of his size. Understands how to use his length to his advantage as both a run blocker and in protection. He’s able to initiate early contact and attach to sustain and control the block throughout the play. Plays with an edge showing he can overwhelm opponents at the contact point and finish them to the ground aggressively. Demonstrates a good ability to match lateral movement to stay in front and keep a clean pocket from edge defenders. Carries two D1 offers into the off season but expect his recruitment to skyrocket as he showcases his skillset.
Lange is one of the more interesting prospects across the state and has tons of untapped potential and upside over the next two years of his prep career. He is a still very raw and developing tackle prospect but has elite size/length and moves well for his size in pass protection and when blocking in space and should be fielding FBS interest/potential offers sooner rather than later. He shows a nasty finish once he gets hands on defenders, can create immediate vertical push and collapse the defensive line down while doing a nice job at using his length and staying within his frame in pass protection. He will be a key name to note through camp season this Spring and should see his stock rise heading into his Junior year.
