Fairmont Senior High School product Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL/OL Frankfort | 2027 State WV was close to being named camp MVP and I would think he will be ranked in WV upcoming 2028 class rankings. Smith has a number of high suitor schools already after him and he had the coaches on site attention’s early and often. He too will be another one I want to see the testing numbers for as he was excellent during all the group work.

2028 QB Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL/OL Frankfort | 2027 State WV was the missing link for Fairmont Senior this season after transferring into the program from Pennsylvania early in the season. He’d elevated this version of the Polar Bears to the #3 seed in the AAA playoffs and should have them back in the semifinals again this season. He’s a D1 prospect with several FBS offers to date and a promising future for the sophomore gunslinger. Smith has thrown for 2,200 yards and 28 touchdowns, along with 350 rushing yards and 7 more scores. He’ll force defenses to cover the entire field and have to account for him in the running game as well, which could propel the Polar Bears to another championship appearance with an upset in the semifinals.

2028 QB Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL/OL Frankfort | 2027 State WV made headlines when he transferred into West Virginia from Pennsylvania. Smith was considered the #1 QB in the 2028 class by our PA site and bolsters an already deep and talented class here in WV. He got the start against Robert C. Byrd in their first game of the season, and Smith had an efficient night for the Polar Bears as he continues to adjust to a new program. He completed 12/20 passes for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 35-9 win. Smith may have been the missing piece for another long playoff run for Fairmont Senior, a program that churns out top quarterbacks.

Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 6'0" | 206 lbs | QB/LB Fairmont Senior | 2028 State WV is someone you want to operate your offense. Smith has a high understanding of landmarks and where he needs to get the football too. This trait allows him to complete passes with capital A anticipation. Smith has good accuracy and a confident arm, allowing him to layer out breaking balls to create perfect hole shots on his highlight reel, while also throwing slants over the middle with precise and accurate placement. Smith is someone who has room to grow, but the traits that he possess currently as a rising sophomore give him such a great projection to the next level and allows him to be a force at the high school level. 

Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Deer Lakes | 2025 State PA is the highest-rated quarterback in the 2028 class, and he displayed the talent of a top quarterback. He has a good arm and excellent mechanics. Occasionally, he will miss a throw, but then, the next throw, he will make up for it with an eye-opening throw. Smith has the talent and pedigree to be a College Football quarterback and is obviously on colleges’ radar, with him receiving a Syracuse offer. The ceiling is high for him, and I am excited to see him play and see how he progresses this year.

Question I Want Answered: Does he justify being the top-ranked quarterback in the 2028 class?

Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Deer Lakes | 2025 State PA had a great freshman year playing quarterback for Southmoreland, and his recruiting started to blow up after he got an offer from Syracuse. I am excited to see him throw for the 1st time and to see if he justifies the top quarterback spot in the 2028 class. I do not doubt that he probably will, but it will be nice to see him throw live.

Smith’s results were up and down, but his individual play was noteworthy. He worked the short game well and was accurate in that area. He was clutch in 724 Elite Silver’s last game, leading a game-winning drive. You can see the potential he holds through his Saturday play.
