Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
One of the top safety prospects in West Georgia for the 2026 class, this Columbus native was a turnover machine last season for the Tigers, picking off several passes in coverage while consistently running down the ball-carrier against the run. He covers a lot of ground down the field and does a great job of taking correct angles to chase down running backs attempting to get to the perimeter. He’s a natural playmaker and earned new recent offer from Charleston Southern and UT-Martin.

A quick, instinctual safety who can close well on the receiver, Watts is a natural playmaker in the secondary who can make a play on the football. He has a natural feel for the position on consistently finds himself in a position to make a play both against the pass and in the run game. He runs well, tracks the ball in coverage, and picked off four passes last year in addition to recovering a fumble and taking it back for a score. His stock is on the rise and saw offers come his way last month from Mississippi State, Kennesaw State, and Miami (OH). He was an easy addition to the next Prep Redzone rankings coming out this spring.
