Vankirk had a good freshman year on varsity, stepping in at true nose tackle and holding his own. He’s scrappy, quick, and not afraid to mix it up in the middle. He can shed blocks and get to the ball in the run game, which is impressive for someone still so early in his career. The effort is there every snap, and if he keeps that same fight as he develops physically, he’s going to be a problem for a lot of centers.
