Western PA always has a bunch of movement in recruiting, whether someone is being offered or committing. Since around late July, there have been numerous updates that I’ve missed, so I’m back again to inform y’all what’s been going down on the recruiting front. This will be a two-part series, so relax and allow me to get you all caught up in the recruiting world.
McLEE MAKES HIS COMMITMENT KNOWN
Cornell University, a D1 FCS program, recently received a big commitment from UT senior playmaker K’adrian Mclee. Uniontown’s resident leader and versatile specialist made the switch to QB due to being the top athlete on the Red Raiders’ squad. The 6’4, 200-pound athlete is dangerous whenever he touches the rock. McLee played WR last season and proved that he’s capable of being a deep threat/red zone weapon. He’s a gifted route runner and excels at Mossing smaller DBs at the highest point on 50/50 balls. Big Red just got a big puzzle piece for their program.
BRENDAN ALEXANDER RECEIVES HIS FIRST POWER 5 OFFER
Brendan recently received his second FBS offer and his first Power 5 offer from the currently top 10 ranked Penn State. It’s not hard to see why the Nittany Lions are after the ‘26 OL/DL. Brendan is physical, with the size and athleticism it takes to play at the highest college level. Alexander is another prospect who didn’t disappoint in person this summer at the 2tenths Top 150 Camp. He has good flexibility and operates at a low pad level during competition. Brendan also has a D1 scholarship offer from Central Michigan. I think Brendan is also worthy of scholarships from local bluebloods Pitt & WVU.
CHRISTOPHER CLIMES GETS HIS FIRST D1 OFFER
Elizabeth Forward’s senior OL/DL received his first D1 offer to Youngstown State last week. He celebrated his first opportunity by having a standout performance to kick off the ’23 football season. Climes looked next-level, finishing the game with 8 tackles overall, 5 TFLs, and multiple pancakes on offense. Climes has received gameday invites from Eastern Michigan and Army so far this season.
DEREON GREER RECEIVES A FOOTBALL OFFER
I’m super excited to see the scholarship floodgates open for Greer. He received his first football scholarship from D2 program West Liberty last week. Greer has the size and playmaking ability that’s necessary to be an effective outside WR on the scholarship level. I also believe Greer would be a good fit for additional MEC programs as well as PSAC schools. In week 0, Greer had an impressive 8 receptions for 146 receiving yards, averaging 18 yards per catch.
O-LINE TEAMMATES HUNTER ALBRIGHT AND WYATT MAINES INTERESTS PICKS UP
Albright is still unoffered but has been receiving a ton of interest from big-time D1 programs. I’m excited for Hunter because he’s definitely capable of playing on the D1 level, standing at 6’6 and 310 pounds. The junior O-lineman is very technical, plays with a low pad level, and has a strong physical punch. He’s being courted by Penn State, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Maryland, West Virginia, and Mercer University, to list a couple of the programs after him.
WYATT MAINES
WYATT MAINES
Maines is an FBS-built prospect who plays with physicality and intensity. For starters, he’s 6’5 and 270 pounds, moving with nimble feet. His athleticism can be seen when he’s pulling or getting out in front to lead block on screen passes. Wyatt has a good punch and runs his feet upon contact, often causing pancakes. He plays shorter than his height of 6’5 but displays solid technique when kick sliding in pass protection. He’s on Virginia Tech and Penn State’s radar and has been invited for a game-day visit.
