These are players who have the skill set to play that next level, which includes supreme arm talent, great mechanics, high football intelligence and the athletic ability to make plays to win games for their teams. As we are updating the Class of 2025 PRZ Texas Rankings, we spotlight several quarterbacks who have that “It Factor” in their games.
Adam has elite arm talent combined with great touch on his deep ball, he has the ability to push the football outside the numbers on a rope and his accuracy in the short to intermediate passing game makes him a lethal weapon in the Columbus offense. Schobel has clean footwork with superb pocket presence, he stands erect with excellence posture in the face of the rush keeping his eyes downfield and he has a quick release that enables him to get the football out on time consistently. Adam had a big season in 2022 throwing for 2,823 with 36 touchdowns to lead Columbus to a 12-2 record, displaying that “It Factor” every Friday night. Schobel has been one the hottest quarterback recruits this offseason, as he recently committed to the Baylor Bears. Look for Adam to continue to light up defenses in 2023.

Anderson has a quick trigger, he gets the football out his hand with a whip like release, he has a strong base when he sets up to throw and he has the arm talent to push the ball downfield and spray the route tree with elite accuracy. Sawyer navigates the pocket like a veteran, he keeps his focus on his targets despite the rush in front of him and his ability to put touch on his passes allows him to throw his targets open consistently. Sawyer plays with a swagger, he has the athletic ability to use his feet to evade the rush and he is a threat in the run game using the read option to keep defenses guessing on how to stop the potent Parish Episcopal offensive attack. Anderson is a two year starter at Parish Episcopal and he helped lead them to a state title in 2022. Sawyer has that “It Factor”, that college programs seek out in signal callers at the next level and he has been a highly recruited player with over 20 plus offers from schools around the country. Expect Anderson to continue to wreck defensive game plans in 2023.

Hawkins has a cannon, he has the arm talent to push the football outside the numbers with velocity on a rope and he has great touch on his deep ball. Ty has a quick release which enables him to get rid of the football quickly to avoid the rush, he shows great pocket presence that allows him to navigate a muddy pocket to deliver dimes to his targets and his superb footwork with a strong base allows him to get extra torque on his throws downfield. Hawkins is a savvy runner in the open field, he runs with power and he has the speed separate at the second level to make a house call. In 2022, Hawkins was the 28-6A Offensive MVP and he comes back in 2023 poised to continue to light up opposing defenses. Ty has been one the hottest recruits in the Class of 2025 this offseason, proving that he has that “It Factor”, that college programs covet and he committed to TCU, spearheading at talented class for the Horned Frogs.

Carney has the arm talent to make all of the throws on the route tree with pinpoint accuracy, he has a strong base when he sets his feet that allows him to engage his hips and he can the fit the football into small windows when he threads the needle into tight coverage. Luke is accurate on the rollout to both sides of the field, he has the ability to get his hips and shoulders on plane to the deliver dimes and he has the athleticism to break containment on the run and drop frozen ropes to his targets. Carney is a threat in the run game, he rushed for 881 yards in 2022 while leading Dallas Christian to it’s second straight State Championship with Luke under center. Luke has shown for two seasons that he has that “It Factor”, he plays with a swagger, he had 3,122 yards of total offense last season with 33 touchdowns while completing 70% of his passes in 2022. Carney has picked steam this offseason on the recruiting trail this, with offers from Georgia Tech, Arizona, Toledo, Western Michigan and Marshall. Luke has been on the grind this offseason, putting up phenomenal combine numbers at several college camps, adding bulk to his frame and you can look for him to continue to lead the charge at Dallas Christian as the Chargers set their sights on a their third state title.

Highlights
Russell has a long, lean athletic frame, he has a strong arm with ability to push the football downfield and he can make throws into small coverage windows with pinpoint accuracy. Keelon has a quick release, he stands tall in the pocket and his awareness in traffic with the ability to escape the rush and make accurate throws are traits that stand out in his game. Russell has the athleticism that makes him a threat in the run game, he runs with power making him tough to bring down in the open field and he has the long speed to make a house call, he broke off a back breaking touchdown in the 6A Division I title game versus North Shore to set the tone for the Panthers. In 2022, Russell threw for 2,377 yards with 22 touchdowns and was a First Team 11-6A All-District Selection in “The District of Doom”. Keelon has the “It Factor”, he plays with a swagger, as the 2022 season progressed he got stronger, which allowed him to make big plays in big moments. Russell has been one of the hottest quarterback recruits this offseason, camping at the Elite 11 Regional, as well the Under Armour Showcase. Keelon has picked up offers from Houston, TCU, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Baylor and Ole Miss this offseason, as programs around the country are in hot pursuit. Russell is one the top returning quarterbacks in the Class of 2025 and he sets his sights on defending the Panthers state title in 2023.
