Patrick LePoidevin Patrick LePoidevin 6'4" | QB Bound Brook | 2022 NJ , Bound Brook, Jr. — LePoidevin has emerged as a reliable threat for Bound Brook. He has completed about 60 percent of his throws for 1,111 yards and 17 touchdowns to four interceptions. He has rushed for five TDs to go with his 17 passing TDs. Listed at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, the Crusader quarterback has good size and shows poise in the pocket. LePoidevin has a good release and has a nice touch on his deep throws. Perhaps most importantly, he keeps the game simple and makes good decisions.
Hunter Van Zant, Boonton, Jr. — Van Zant has been unstoppable this season with 1,748 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has rushed over 200 yards five times this season, including a monstrous 364-yard, four-touchdown performance in a victory over Parsippany. Van Zant has rushed for over 100 yards in every game this year. He is a power runner, and he fits Boonton’s ground-and-pound style of play extremely well. Van Zant is averaging about 250 yards per game on the ground, and he’s a massive reason why the Bombers finished with a 6-1 record.
Matt Yascko, Edison, So. — Yascko has led Edison to a 4-2 mark as a sophomore quarterback at Edison. Yascko has shown potential as one of the top quarterbacks to watch in the next few seasons. He has thrown for 1,129 yards and 10 touchdowns to three interceptions. The sophomore has shown the ability to get yards on the ground, and he most recently threw for 383 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-49 victory over Hillsborough. Yascko earned attention as a rising sophomore, and he has a bright future with the Eagles under center.
Michael Filippone, Hanover Park, Jr. — Filippone has run for 851 yards and 12 touchdowns this season in leading the ground attack for a very prolific Hanover Park offense. He has run over 100 yards in five straight games, including a 224-yard, four-score performance in a close win over Mahwah this past week. The junior has showcased his speed, ability to fight through contact and he is active on the defensive end.
Luke Doerr-Fredrickson, West Morris Central, Sr. – Doerr-Fredrickson was one of West Morris Central’s top players this season in a 7-1 season. He found the end zone seven times on the ground, rushing for over 100 yards twice. He made the most of his increased workload, and he was a dominant player on defense with 14 sacks, including four in the team’s season-opening shutout win over Roxbury. He was great in pursuit of the ball carrier and became a tougher player to block as the weeks went on.
