Cole McConathy Cole McConathy 6'5" | 230 lbs | DL Spanish Fort | 2024 State AL is a highly productive outside linebacker for Spanish Fort that has been unstoppable so far this season. Last week, McConathy was a massive force to be reckoned with in his team’s matchup against Theodore. In total, McConathy recorded an impressive 10 tackles (3 for loss) and two sacks. McConathy had himself a day, he consistently made key stops and prevented Theodore’s offense from getting any momentum. Nearly every snap, he was finding himself in the backfield putting pressure/bringing down the quarterback and crashing in on the line of scrimmage to stop the run as well. All throughout the game, McConathy was dominating the trenches and made play after play. Keep an eye on him the remainder of this year, McConathy, a Louisville commit, has been unbelievable this season.

McConathy demonstrates a good rush plan and an ability to get off of blocks. He has a quick first-step off the ball and gets upfield faster than many offensive tackles are prepared for. Once upfield, McConathy uses active hands to slap away linemen. He showcased an impressive rip move in the Theodore game that allowed him to gain leverage on offensive tackles and shed their blocks. McConathy features functional upper body strength that helps him scrap with blockers and keep them from sustaining blocks or get a good hold of him. McConathy competes in run defense and makes an effort to chase down ball-carriers out of his gap. He is best in pursuit and plays physical football.

During week 2 matchup, he displayed fast and powerful hands, McConathy consistently punches above his weight class. He has the necessary athletic traits to work the corner and shoot gaps, but the power through his frame and violence through his hands are what help unlock him when rushing the passer or stopping the run. He tallied up 12 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks and 2 QB hurries.

McConathy is a highly versatile and talented EDGE in his ability to get into the backfield to make big time plays and his game against Fairhope was no exception- the Louisville commit had a huge game featuring him total up 14 tackles (7 solo, 4 for loss), and one sack. Last Friday, McConathy was able to absolutely wreck havoc against the run and pass and set the tone for his defense all four quarters.
