Tristan Lyles Tristan Lyles 6’1″ | 220 lbs | DL Central | 2026 State AL is a prospect we first laid our eyes on this summer and man did he start his sophomore season on a good note. Lyles is a dominant EDGE/DE for Central that has a great burst off the line of scrimmage, terrific strength, and a great ability to pursue after the ball carrier. Last Friday Lyles had a big game against Hewitt Trussville where he recorded 9 total tackles (8 solo, 4 for loss) and 2 sacks. Lyles was as dominant as he could’ve been- he was flying around the field making plays left and right in the backfield. It was near impossible for Hewitt Trussville’s offensive line to contain him, and as a sophomore he shows tons of promise as a prospect. Over the summer, Lyles picked up an offer from UAB- expect to see him pick up some more sometime soon!
Highlights
Cole McConathy Cole McConathy 6’5″ | 230 lbs | DL Spanish Fort | 2024 State AL is a terrific defender for Spanish Fort that has progressively become one of the top EDGE prospects in his class- starting off the 2023 season the right way in a big game against Fairhope. McConathy is a highly versatile and talented EDGE in his ability to get into the backfield to make big time plays and his game against Fairhope was no exception- the Louisville commit had a huge game featuring him total up 14 tackles (7 solo, 4 for loss), and one sack. Last Friday, McConathy was able to absolutely wreck havoc against the run and pass and set the tone for his defense all four quarters. As mentioned earlier, McConathy is a Louisville commit, but before he heads off to the next level be sure to watch him this fall- he’s a blast to watch!
We haven’t covered Kentonio Kelly Kentonio Kelly 6’0″ | 200 lbs | LB Mobile Christian | 2025 State AL before his performance last week, but with his play, he’s definitely going to be a prospect to watch for us! Kelly is a talented middle linebacker for Mobile Christian that just kicked off his junior season with a monstrous performance against Athens Academy. Kelly has a ton of sideline to sideline skills- he really can move around the field to make tackles, and thrives at both getting into the backfield to make tough plays and at tracking and bringing down the ball carrier regardless of where the ball is being taken. Kelly absolutely dominated and showed off these skills last week when he put up 20 total tackles (16 solo, 2 for loss)! Although we haven’t seen much of Kelly before this last week, were going to have to keep track of him this fall!
Clayton Hussey Clayton Hussey 6’2″ | 165 lbs | DB Lowndes Academy | 2024 State AL is another prospect that we hadn’t seen until this last week, but man does this guy have a knack for finding and making plays on the ball! Hussey is a talented senior DB at Lowndes Academy that had a huge game last week up against Macon East Montgomery. Hussey was an absolute ball hawk that game, providing lockdown coverage, breaking up passes, and picking up 3 interceptions on the game! Hussey has great coverage skills, tracks the QBs eyes, and has great hands that allow him to consistently make plays on the ball- and man did he do that last week! Keep an eye on him as he continues on this fall- he’s a fun player to watch!
