Continue ReadingNo need to set the stage for the state power that is known as Don Bosco. They produce championships and talent. They take young men and in four year’s time, they create Ironmen. Rhett Morris Rhett Morris 6’3″ | 285 lbs | OL Don Bosco Prep | 2026 State NJ , all 6’3″ 285lbs of him, is the next in line.
Morris’ film shows that he is a physical player who drives his feet well. He is also a center by trade, which is often a godsend because coaches do not have to develop a center. Morris loves contact and to get nasty in the trenches. He uses his strength and the momentum of opponents to toss them to the side. When on defense, he stonewalls o-linemen and then relentlessly pursues the ball. For Morris to make the leap to varsity next fall, he should look to clean up his steps and slide step in pass protection.
Morris is an interesting prospect to follow. He has collegiate size to start at center right now. With some more seasoning, four years from now he just might start at a college from day one.

Tyler Bell Tyler Bell 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB St. Peter’s Prep | 2026 State NJ of St. Peter’s Prep was actually a prospect I got to meet in person at our Prep Redzone Showcase this winter (sign up for the spring showcase here, DM me @BrendanScoutsNJ for a promo code). He has the size and stature to start today; however, what impressed me the most was his “yes, sir/no, sir” type attitude. In limited burn for the Pirates last season, he was 7/16 for 136 yards and 2 TDs. He also was the team’s placeholder.
Bell has good mechanics. I like the fact that he transfers his weight through his hips when delivering strikes. He also has a quick release in his throwing motion. Bell moves extremely well to his right, completing accurate throws on the run. On the contrary, when rolling out across his body he sets his feet.
With Champ Long off to Maryland, it appears that Bell will have the QB reigns all to himself. Bell is a player that I will be rooting for and interested to see how his prep career progresses.
The Camden Catholic Fighting Irish have a Moss-sized WR split out wide. Scott Freeman Scott Freeman 6’3″ | 170 lbs | WR Camden Catholic | 2026 NJ measures 6’3″ 165lb and has the potential to be a true 5 star recruit. Last season he was credited with 7 catches for 163 yards and 1 TD on offense and 19 tackles with 1 Int on defense.
We only see Freeman split out by himself. Defenses would be wise moving forward to send help his way. Freeman makes subtle body fakes to get the body of DBs out of position. He is adept at running sluggos, getting open deep. Freeman also high points the ball very well. On defense Freeman is the single-high safety. He takes his pass read then explodes downhill in run support. He needs to work on his pre-snap reads to make sure he does not out leverage his body.
Freeman might be the state’s next big time wideout. As he gets bigger and adds good weight, he will become more explosive. Perhaps three years from now he will “Moss” defenders on every down.
Rumson-Fair Haven is a perennial, local power. They do not retool, they reload. If all goes according to his plan this fall, o-lineman Jack Harris Jack Harris 6’3″ | 295 lbs | OL Rumson Fair-Haven | 2026 State NJ will complete the reloading process on their o-line in 2023.
At 6’3″ 300lb, the rising sophomore has all the physical tools to make an immediate impact on the varsity level. We see on Harris’ twitter that he is constantly working all year round. In the middle of February, he is out on the gridiron putting in work getting his feet right. Feet are important, but also are hands and explosion. I anticipate Harris’ legs being under him too, as he has hit the plyometric boxes hard. He also hand spars with teammates so he can keep the hands of defenders off of him. Harris either also has aspirations to play college football, or wants to learn from the best, as he has been active in attending the college camp circuit this coming spring.
With a strong returning cast in the fold and a dedicated, committed freshman on the brink, the Bulldogs will continue to strive to be top dogs in the Shore Conference.

The Winslow Eagles had an impressive season last fall going 6-4. Keep in mind this performance was largely without contributions from a promising freshman class. That class is headlined by RB/LB RJ Carstarphen RJ Carstarphen 5’11” | 215 lbs | RB Winslow | 2026 State NJ . At 5’11” 220lbs Carstarphen has the measurables to hold his own on the varsity field. He was credited with 4 tackles and 1 TFL last season.
In viewing his 8th grade film Carstarphen is a strong runner, fighting for every single hard he can get. We often see defenders stretching out his jersey as they hang on and go for a ride, while others get stiff-armed to the ground. Carstarphen also has great vision, often seeing a backside cutback lane, hitting it, and ripping off a big gain. Defensively he times his blitzes well getting through unblocked. We will see how this translates to the varsity level.
Carstarphen is an interesting prospect in the sense that he is so young and so physical. Clearly a standout in the 8th grade ranks and with a year of acclimatization to the speed and size of varsity football, we will certainly track Carstarphen as he prepares to crack the starting lineup this fall.
