took a big step in year two as he continues to establish himself as one of the top DBs in his class. Kobe had a productive season, recording 58 tackles, two TFLs, two forced fumbles, and an interception. What stands out the most about Kobe’s game is how rangy he is from that deep safety position. He demonstrates the ability to get depth in coverage, effectively eliminating big plays over top and covering from sideline to sideline. Allen does a great job reading the QB’s eyes and displays an explosive burst when breaking on the ball. Kobe isn’t just a cover safety, showing a willingness to step into the box to help out against the run with the closing speed to get there in a hurry. Allen flashed solid tackling ability with the strength and technique to make secure tackles in the open field, which is always great to see in a DB. Great motor keeps him in pursuit from snap to whistle. Overall, Kobe is a great athlete who could also see a rise in offensive touches with some graduations and departures on that side of the ball. Another second-year standout, Allen was the second most impressive player on the field last Friday. A true ball hawk, he made plays both near the line of scrimmage and in open space, showing off his quick play diagnosis and attack skills. With good size for a Safety, Allen plays physically and is aggressive in coverage, often disrupting passes with well-timed hand placements. His strong upside and commitment to growth position him as a top defensive back prospect in the state.

is a dynamic player to watch after being moved up to varsity as a freshman. I really considered listing Kobe as a DB here, but his upside on offense and special teams makes the ATH listing more appropriate. Allen played the majority of his varsity reps at safety, where he displayed good range and coverage instincts. Kobe seems to be quick on his feet with loose hips that allow him to change direction and break on the ball on a dime. One thing that stood out about Kobe was his willingness to help in run support. He quickly triggers downhill once he keys on the run, takes good angles on his way to the ball, and shows some solid power behind his tackles. You also have to keep a close eye on Kobe when you’re on special teams and his explosiveness as a returner. Look for Kobe to build on a very promising frosh season as the Gators push for another playoff berth.
