A lot of sophomores started for the varsity squads last season, showing a depth of talent throughout the class on Friday nights. The junior varsity level also saw significant talent from many sophomores, reinforcing the strength of the 2025 class.
Now, let us briefly examine five cornerbacks from the 2025 class with rapidly rising stock value as recruits.
Benner is an outstanding athlete who had a breakout performance during his sophomore season. He has all the intangibles that check the boxes for the next level, like height, speed, physicality, and instincts. His ability to use athleticism and techniques to transition between coverages while recognizing possible routes is impressive. Benner led the state in interceptions (11) and finished the year as a state champion, confirming that he is one of the best corners in the state.

Hayes is a talented corner whose on-field success is a testament to his hard work and experience. He is one of the more technically sound corners in the state who has excellent patience and eye discipline, especially at the snap. His ability to flip his hips quickly and squeeze down on routes has helped him consistently stand out. Hayes spent his sophomore year lining up across from some elite talent and proving time and again that he possesses the needed skillset to be a true number one corner.
Keegan was tested a lot last season and proved to be a serious lockdown corner for his team. He is an aggressive player who uses his physicality and confidence to disrupt the receiver’s timing and play the ball in the air or through the hands. His quick acceleration and overall speed allow him to run with almost everyone who lines up across from him. Keegan is another player who had a standout sophomore season, making him a player to add to the prospect boards.
Highlights
Ford is a two-way athlete whose versatility makes him a standout on both sides of the ball. As a corner, he uses his instincts and quick acceleration to get out of his backpedals and break on the ball with precision. He does an excellent job identifying routes and coming downhill to make a play. His overall speed makes him a problematic defender to outrun and beat deep. Ford is an exceptional athlete poised to have a breakout junior season.

Dionido is a new radar pop-up with significant promise as a potential sleeper. He displays phenomenal fundamentals with his stance-and-start and eye discipline. His long reach allows him to maintain space from the receiver during the release before squeezing into the receiver’s hip pocket and keeps disciplined eyes through the breaks. He does a fantastic job at playing the hips to the hands of the receiver, then playing the ball through the hands to disrupt passes. Dionido is an exciting corner to watch because he covers every route well, making him a player to add to the sleeper list immediately.
