Jermaine Tillery, Trenton: How about Trenton going 2-0 following a dominant 26-7 victory at Notre Dame Friday night? Trenton made a last-minute decision to play fall sports this season, and thus far the football team has made a big-time statement. Tillery was strong at quarterback Friday night, throwing a pair of touchdowns and rushing for 110 yards on 12 carries with a score. He scored on a 30-yard run and connected on a 33-yard touchdown pass to Kazhir Brown and an 11-yard TD pass to Devin Hariston.
Ari Jenkins, Trenton: Jenkins rushed for 109 yards on 27 carries with a 1-yard scoring run as Trenton outscored Notre Dame 20-0 after the first quarter on the way to a 26-7 eye-opening win Friday night.
LeQuint Allen LeQuint Allen 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Millville | 2022 State NJ , Millville: Millville stunned No. 9 St. Augustine Friday night in a 22-21 thriller Friday evening. Allen had a 4-yard TD run midway through the fourth quarter before he connected with Davonte White on the two-point conversion that ultimately proved to be the difference in the game. Allen ran for 69 yards on 16 carries.
Kanye Udoh Kanye Udoh 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB St. Augustine | 2022 State NJ , St. Augustine: Despite the loss, St. Augustine’s Udoh had an incredible night, running for 189 yards on 27 carries with a 10-yard scoring run.
Billy Osborn, Cherokee: Osborn threw for a pair of scores and ran for another as Cherokee had one of the biggest upsets thus far this season, taking down No. 12 Woodrow Wilson in shutout fashion, 35-0.
Noah Abida, Wayne Hills: Abida had a nice evening in Wayne Hills’ 20-15 victory over rival Wayne Valley. With the win, Wayne Hills improved to 2-0. Abida, the team’s quarterback, went 11-for-15 for 158 yards and ran for 63 yards with a 13-yard score that proved to be the difference.
Christian Solino, North Hunterdon: Solino threw for a touchdown and ran for another as North Hunterdon knocked off neighboring rival Hunterdon Central Friday night, 28-21. Solino finished with 101 rushing yards on the evening.
James Brazofsky, Park Ridge: Brazofsky totaled 123 yards on 19 carries as Park Ridge edged past Hasbrouck Heights, 28-22, Friday night.
Jake Diaz Jake Diaz 5'9" | 170 lbs | WR Hasbrouck Heights | 2022 NJ , Hasbrouck Heights: Diaz made four receptions for 153 yards and a score in Hasbrouck Heights’ 28-22 loss to Park Ridge. He hauled in an 80-yard TD pass in the loss.
Kyle Smith, Middletown South: In yet another upset, Middletown South got past No. 16 Red Bank Catholic, 32-25, Friday night. Smith ran for a pair of scores and had a 60-yard fumble return in the victory.
Brady Kurdyla, Bridgewater-Raritan: In a night of upsets, Bridgewater-Raritan’s Kurdyla finished 13-of-20 for 115 yards and accounted for four touchdowns in the Panthers’ 36-28 win over No. 10 Union Friday night. Kurdyla did his damage on the ground with 21 carries for 105 yards and three scores, also passing for one. B-R’s Ryan McKinney finished with 77 yards on 16 carries and a rushing TD. The Panthers had three fumble recoveries on the night as well.
Blaine Franc, Montville: Franc did a little bit of everything for Montville in its 38-0 win over Mendham on Friday. He was extremely efficient at quarterback, going 10-for-16 for 191 yards and three scores. Franc also ran for 123 yards on 16 carries as Mendham simply had no answer. He made a 30-yard field goal as the team’s kicker as well.
River Dell: It was Dec. 2, 2017. That was the last time No. 4 Ramapo lost a football game. That two-year streak came to an end on Friday night when River Dell, the last team to defeat Ramapo, shocked the high school football scene with a 22-21 come-from-behind victory, outscoring Ramapo 15-0 in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Christian Hay threw for three touchdowns, including a pair to Colin Quinn.
