Brody’s 2023 highlight tape impressed me a lot when I first watched it. Heading into last season, I wasn’t entirely sold on Brody. Even this offseason, he’s had a few ups and downs, but he’s still a Division 2 prospect in my eyes. Speaking of last season, he runs the Caledonia offense incredibly well. On designed runs, he has the speed and awareness to consistently earn good yardage. Over the air, Brody excels at those quick rollout passes. I especially like how he’s able to remain accurate while on the run and/or while throwing cross body. That said, his mechanics are solid and pretty consistent. The biggest thing Brody needs to work on is his accuracy, which is an area I expect Brody to improve on this season. He’ll play a bigger role in the offense after quite a few graduating seniors, and I fully expect Brody to step up to the task.

It was a good weekend for the upcoming Senior QB. He was clearly one of the older and more experience QBs there this weekend and it poked through a couple of times. He wasn’t afraid to get on his guys and correct them where needed. He’s able to throw with anticipation and when he gets into a rhythm, he’s hard to slow down. He’s a big frame QB who has the build to withstand hits in the pocket as well. A quick check of his tape shows a bunch of the same traits as well. The team outcome may not have been what they wanted, but the Michigan boys had a good weekend and Betser led the way.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I LOVE Brody’s Junior season tape. Brody is incredibly productive in Caledonia’s offensive scheme, and he can truly make any throw that’s asked of him. The scheme also allows Brody to use his legs quite a bit, and he’s proven to be a mobile QB who can gain some tough yards when needed.
With a productive offseason, Brody could start receiving GLIAC attention. He’s also someone I would love to see again in person. I’d love to see him improve with upper-level QB skills such as elite accuracy and timing.

I’m confident that Brody is going to get some good opportunities to play at the next level. Will it happen this offseason? I’m not sure, but my gut tells me that he’ll eventually end up somewhere in the GLIAC. In terms of arm talent, it’s easy to see on film that Brody has a big arm. He demonstrated since Week 1 at The Big House that he’s able to throw the ball deep downfield with good accuracy and touch. Caledonia is a very balanced team that doesn’t rely on big, explosive passes too often, but with Brody, the big pass is always a threat.

Going into the 2023 season, I had managed expectations for Brody. Frankly, Brody was hyped up unlike any Quarterback I’ve seen in the Grand Rapids area. We ranked Brody #125 in the last iteration of the rankings with the expectation that he’ll probably earn his way up the ladder at some point. After this season, watching his highlights, and his game against Rockford, I can confidently rank Brody at the #64 spot. This is a quarterback who understands the offensive system he’s in, knows how to read a defense, and straight-up knows how to play his position. Brody doesn’t have measurements or arm talent that’s going to blow you away. He’s a QB who goes through his progressions, throws confidently, and, very importantly, gets the ball out quickly.rnWith another productive offseason, I don’t see Brody being anything worse than a high-end GLIAC prospect.
