Hipp is one of the top 2024 prospects in the state regardless of position. At 6’6” 230 lbs. he possesses a rare skillset that combines his size, length, and athleticism to be effective both as a blocker in the run game and a pass catcher. He’s a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses whether operating as an inline TE, H back, or slot receiver. He’s got good coordination and body control for his size with natural ball skills to be strong at the catch point. He runs well and is savvy with his movement and how he creates space as a route runner. Can also use his size to his advantage and box out defenders. Very sound run blocker that is strong at the POA and can overpower opponents with good leverage and hand usage. Currently the seventh ranked overall prospect in the 2024 PRZ state rankings and holds 16 offers from top programs such as Oregon, Tennessee, Duke, Baylor, and both in state P5 programs.
Mayberry is a gifted athlete at this size with excellent versatility. At 6’5” 230 lbs. he’s a natural bender with great fluidity and movement skills. He’s got good initial quickness off the ball and in his drive phase to get into his route, break cushion, and then create separation. Sinks his hips at the break point and can stick his foot in the ground to accelerate out of his cuts. Natural hands catcher that can go up and compete for the ball at the high point and come down with 50/50 balls using his length. Strong blocker in the run game that does a good job creating angles to maintain positional leverage and sustain his block throughout the play. Also a very good basketball player. Currently holds an offer from Marshall that he picked up last January but expect his recruiting to take off as he develops and is able to showoff his size and skillset.
Highlights
Heap’s not the biggest TE/H Back prospect at 6’1” 195 lbs. but his tough and physical playing style help him be productive as both a blocker and a receiver. Excels as a receiving TE that does a great job creating open throwing lanes by finding space and taking advantage of the soft spot in coverage. Very good awareness and instincts to know where defenders are and where he is on the field. Possesses good athleticism and body control with deceptive straight line speed as a route runner and after the catch. Plus ball skills, he’s aggressive at the catch point and shows good concentration and coordination on contested catches across the middle. Effective blocker that can execute different blocks while using his mobility to get the spot and wall off defenders. He’s got good natural ability and will be interesting to see how he develops.
