I’ve been highlighting all of our newcomers to the 2023 rankings, and now there’s now one position remaining.

[player_tooltip player_id="274364" first="Drew" last="Novak"] (Western Brown) 6’5 180- [player_tooltip player_id="274364" first="Drew" last="Novak"] had one, if not the most productive seasons in Ohio High School football history. He threw for 5,269 yards 56 TD’s 11INT’s. He rushed for 1,202 and 21 TD’s. I have to think that might be the only 5,000 yard passing and 1,000 yard rushing season in Ohio high school football history. Novak is a long and athletic Quarterback. On the heels of his big junior season and the traits he displayed, he flied up our rankings and debuts as our #2 quarterback and our #23 player in the 2023 class. He does a great job of reading defenses and identifying where the ball needs to go. He has a good internal clock and uses his legs to make plays when the throw isn’t there. He throws with different arm slots and with anticipation. If that was his junior season, I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in his farewell season. Novak is getting D2 interest right now.

[player_tooltip player_id="274379" first="Broc" last="Lowry"] (Canfield) 6’3 200- Broc Lowery checks in as our 5th ranked quarterback and the 29th overall player in the 2023 class. Lowery has good feet in the pocket and does a good job keeping his eyes downfield when eluding the rush. He has a good arm and can throw to all parts of the field. Lowry can He holds offers from Miami (OH), Bowling Green, and Toledo.

[player_tooltip player_id="274386" first="Tymir" last="Wynn"] (Kipp Columbus) 6’2 190- [player_tooltip player_id="274386" first="Tymir" last="Wynn"] is a defensive coordinator’s nightmare in the back field. He can kill you with his legs at any time. When running the ball, he’s very explosive, is able to make guys miss, and has great vision. As a thrower Wynn does a good job of distributing the ball to all of his receivers. I think he has a lot of room to grow as a thrower. You see flashes of arm strength that will show out with work on consistency in his mechanics. Wynn is our 6th ranked QB and 28th player in the 23 class. He could be recruited as an athlete, but I think he can play quarterback at the D1 level. He holds offers from Toledo and Kent State.

[player_tooltip player_id="274380" first="Dru" last="DeShields"] (West Branch) 6’3 175- DeShields is another athletic QB who can hurt you with his arms or his legs. He has good arm strength and good deep ball touch. He has good feet in the pocket and throws with anticipation. DeShields also plays Safety on the defensive side of the ball. Dru comes in as our #7 ranked quarterback, and our #51 ranked player. He’s getting interest from several MAC schools.

[player_tooltip player_id="274363" first="Deuce" last="Caldwell"] (Licking Heights) 5’11 190- Caldwell is a smaller QB who uses his legs a lot. He strains defenses by running the ball when the throw isn’t there, and by extending plays and making throws on the run. He’s used in designed runs as well. Caldwell does a good job of executing the zone read run. If he plays QB at the next level rather than athlete, I think a zone read offense is where he would best fit. Caldwell is starting to get D1 mid-major interest.
