The group showed early signs of being strong at the top and talented throughout. It's continued with tremendous growth, many of these student-athlete finding college homes to continue competing in the sport.

One of the best parts about tracking a recruiting cycle is finding out where student-athletes fit on the next level, which many of them have done. The process is different for everyone, however. Sometimes everything clicks into place on a smooth timeline. For others, it takes more time to find the right home.

Here are talented players kicking off their senior seasons Friday night and competing to impress college scouts. Chances are good they will open plenty of eyes with their performances because the next-level talent is apparent.

Miller proved to be a problem for defenders in Class 1A at Regina the last three years. The talented ball carrier makes the moves up to 5A at Iowa City High this fall. He'll be running to help the Little Hawks rebound from a rough season and to attract recruiting attention for them. Miller has reported great scholarship offers throughout the last few years but remains uncommitted heading into his final prep season. That should have college coaches showing up to games to see how he performs against the state's best competition. Expect a seamless transition if Miller stays healthy. He's a Power 4 running back operating in an offense with a high ceiling, one that can make teams pay if they focus too much on him.

Kriegel hasn't publicly reported much activity when it comes to recruiting. Minnesota, Iowa and Iowa State were among the schools to host him on visits last season. It's not the production keeping teams from offering scholarships. He heads into his senior season with historically relevant numbers. It's not the frame preventing college offers. It's projectable. Kriegel's speed and athleticism along with the projected physical development give him a sizable ceiling teams on the next level seek. I just think he's slipped through the cracks a bit unless he's keeping interest private. Kriegel has a chance to be an impactful college player with multi-positional versatility.

Colleges will be combing the Iowa prep ranks for prospects this fall. That will include the senior class. Roster management is so fluid on the next level, that it can stunt the recruiting processes of student-athletes worthy of more opportunities heading into their final high school campaigns. Montford certainly falls into that category. The size and strength are in line with his age. There's projection for more once in a college conditioning program. Montford also offers athleticism, agility and positional flexibility. He's poised for a senior season that will having colleges calling on him.

Chulu established himself as a notable prospect during the last three seasons at Urbandale. The dynamic defensive back decided to transfer to defending Class 5A state champion Dowling Catholic for his final prep campaign. That should be helping in practice against top receivers on one of the Iowa's most loaded rosters. With more eyes of college coaches on the Maroons because of the wealth of talent, Chulu has a chance to turn more heads along the recruiting trail. His film and performance with the J-Hawks should have already done that, but his time is now.

The wheels of the recruiting process can sometimes move slower than the talent might otherwise indicate they should be. That's the case with Brown, a well-rounded receiver capable of dinging defenses in multiple ways. His size gives smaller defenses backs fits. The speed and slick route running trip up bigger defenders. On top of that, Brown's frame is projectable and can fill out with added strength in the future. The Bettendorf offense should take a step forward in 2026 with Brown being a big part of that growth. That, along with next-level prospects lining up with him for the Bulldogs, will have college coaches' attention throughout the fall.
