Yasir had a great sophomore season, flashing his massive upside as he finished the year with 180 passing yards, 165 rushing yards, 341 receiving yards, two passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and five receiving touchdowns. Grixby projects best as a receiver who can be moved around the offense to either take advantage of favorable 1v1s or be used on gadget runs, sweeps, etc to get the ball in his hands quickly. His biggest assets are his vision and twitch as a ball carrier. Yasir is very good at following his blocks and identifying opening lanes in the defense while also having the quick change of direction to hit those gaps. He's also surprisingly tough to tackle, partly because his shiftiness can make defenders miss in the open field, but also due to his top-tier balance and footwork when trying to stay upright. Very good route runner who can create separation, but also has a good feel for spacing and being able to find the soft spots in coverage. Reliable hands and target over the middle of the field. We've seen flashes during his freshman and sophomore seasons, now I think we'll see Yasir in even better form in 2026!

(@LandonHeinert)

I don't have a clear picture of what the Griffins' starting OL will look like this fall, but one thing is for sure: they will be DEEP at the position. One player who could play himself into a bigger role in year three is center-guard [player_tooltip player_id='2129933' first='Landon' last='Heinert'], who flashed in his limited role as a sophomore. Right off the bat, Landon projects well with solid size at 6'3", 230 pounds, and plenty of room to continue bulking out his frame. He plays with the type of aggressiveness you like to see out of your enforcers, with a nice pop out of his stance and hands that hit like bricks when he makes his initial punch. Once he's locked in with his opponent, he does a great job of working his hands inside to gain leverage and then uses his strong base to drive them off the ball. Always looking to finish his blocks in the dirt. Heinert's mobility was also a strong point as he displays solid footwork and lateral quickness when moving up to the second level. Definitely someone to start keeping tabs on!

(@EastonLoftin)

Millard West's [player_tooltip player_id='2064223' first='Easton' last='Loftin'] is another player gearing up for a big year in the trenches. Easton gave the Wildcat faithful a lot to look forward to this fall after tallying 17 tackles, seven TFLs, and a team-leading four sacks despite only playing in six games. When watching Easton's tape, my biggest takeaway was that his motor is always running red-hot as he was constantly working his hands and pumping his legs. Loftin has a well-rounded skill set that makes him effective as both a pass rusher and a run defender. When pressuring the QB, he displays a solid get-off with good bend around the edge and can really use his length to extend to make strong initial contact when jabbing at blockers. When he keys in on the run, Easton's strong base allows him to anchor down, set the edge, and force runs back inside. Solid closing speed and the already-mentioned tireless motor allow him to get to the ball carrier or QB and make splash plays at/behind the line of scrimmage. He has been hard at work this offseason, so we should expect to see a fired-up, bigger, stronger Easton this fall!

(@hudfriesen1)

Skutt Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='2129213' first='Hudson' last='Friesen'] is an interesting player with a versatile skillset and the opportunity to take over for some graduated players. Hudson's usage as a sophomore was limited as he recorded 11 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown, along with 11 tackles on defense. Hudson really excels in the short and intermediate range, where he can take a quick dump-off pass and then do damage after the catch. He is very shifty with quick footwork and cutback ability that can make defenders miss in the open field. Friesen brings additional value as a return man who can effortlessly swim through the first wave of defenders to set his offense up nicely. We could also see him play a bigger role on defense, where he has experience at cornerback. His athleticism helps him stick with receivers in coverage while also tracking and defending the ball in the air. Keep an eye out for this guy as the Sky Hawks look to make it another deep playoff run!

The Gretna Dragons have a couple of sophomore breakout candidates on their defensive line, including [player_tooltip player_id='2132113' first='Carter' last='Blayney'], who played a limited role last season. As a sophomore, Carter ended the year with 13 tackles and a half TFL. There are still raw aspects to Carter's game, but all the tools are there, including a tall, lengthy frame at 6'5" and 205 pounds with room to continue growing. He holds up well when engaged with blockers, displaying the strength in his base to anchor down to keep from being pushed back, and can even drive linemen off their spot. Carter's motor is going from snap to whistle, and it shows in a few great plays where he chased the ball carrier downfield to make the stop. Lots to like here... wouldn't be surprised to see coaches start to ask about Carter if he comes out firing this fall!

Make sure to follow @PRZ_OscarG for more news on Nebraska and Iowa HS recruiting.
