We continued our 2026 spring camp tour In Choctaw for their annual team camp. It's another camp that is routinely a must stop for us. This year was no different. In this breakdown, we take a look at nine guys that stood out in major ways throughout the morning in Choctaw. We have players from Bishop McGuinness, Choctaw, Ponca City and Shawnee represented. Plenty of them are names we knew about coming into the camp, sprinkled in with a few new names that will need to be known about coming into this season. Check out our YouTube Channel later today for highlights from the team camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='2124464' first='Akoree' last='Walker'] - 2029 Defensive Back - Choctaw

This was our first chance to really watch Choctaw 2029 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='2124464' first='Akoree' last='Walker'] in person and man he did not disappoint. We watched his limited film from last season and were impressed but seeing his athletic ability in person just elevated our opinion of him. Walker is going to be a dude for the Yellowjackets for a long time. He showed that he can be a lockdown corner on defense and then a playmaker on offense. There was a lot of hype around Walker coming into this spring and we believe he's lived up to it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1829599' first='Brendan' last='Johnson'] - 2028 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Shawnee

Shawnee 2028 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1829599' first='Brendan' last='Johnson'] is a player that we first started to notice this offseason at one of our 7v7 tournaments. He's a good athlete and was making plays throughout the day in April. Fast forward to the Choctaw camp and Johnson was once again showcasing that athletic ability. He made quite a few plays on both sides of the ball and while normally, we have a lean offense or defense with a player. We truly don't right now with Johnson other that the lean that we know he's a really good football player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1748512' first='Cal' last='Whitnah'] - 2028 Quarterback - Choctaw

It appears that Choctaw has their next starting quarterback as 2028 signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1748512' first='Cal' last='Whitnah'] had a really solid day for the Yellowjackets. Whitnah moved to Choctaw from Harrah, where he was a terrific dual-threat QB and it's expected that he could do the same with the Yellowjackets. He had a really good day throwing the ball and he was rarely putting the ball in harm's way. We like how tough of a player Whitnah is and we're looking forward to seeing how he competes with the level of competition getting ratcheted up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1834412' first='DreAndre' last='Bruton'] - 2027 Running Back - Bishop McGuinness

Bishop McGuinness 2027 running back [player_tooltip player_id='1834412' first='DreAndre' last='Bruton'] is the first of a couple McGuinness standouts that had really solid performances in Choctaw. Bruton is a big play back that also showcased the ability to be a workhorse if necessary. He had a mixed bag of results during the camp. He would break a long run and then have three to four carries that went for positive yards, making the opponent work. And he's not the only McGuinness returnee to get excited about heading into the 2026 season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1689435' first='Gage' last='Chance'] - 2027 Quarterback - Bishop McGuinness

Bishop McGuinness 2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1689435' first='Gage' last='Chance'] was on our shortlist of players to watch this spring after the way his junior season ended last year. Chance got hurt late in the regular season and missed their run in the playoffs. So first off, it was good to see him back on the field and healthy. Second, he absolutely looked the part and the Irish are going to be one of the better offenses in Class 5A this season. Because Chance has playmakers all around him and he was great at getting them the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1198491' first='Jayce' last='Watson'] - 2027 Defensive Lineman - Choctaw

It's time to start talking way more about Choctaw 2027 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1198491' first='Jayce' last='Watson'] and how much of an impact he has on the line of scrimmage. We went back and looked at Watson's junior season and he was one of the best defensive tackles in the state. From an impact and production standpoint, Watson was a monster. And then when we watched him in person at camp, Watson brought that same juice and that same energy on every single snap. This is a very good football player and he shouldn't be under the radar anymore.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555376' first='Jonston' last='Burke'] - 2027 Quarterback - Ponca City

Ponca City is a 6A-2 program that is looking to build off last year's playoff appearance and they have the returning talent to do just that. Running their multiple offense is 2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1555376' first='Jonston' last='Burke'] and he had a really good day in Choctaw. The Wildcats were running a lot of option offense and Burke was leading the way, rarely making the wrong decision with the football in his hands. Then he would air it out and the arm strength is definitely there to put a lot of stress on opposing defenses.

[player_tooltip player_id='1642493' first='Kentrell' last='Gaddis II'] - 2028 Athlete - Choctaw

It seems like the light is coming on for Choctaw 2028 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1642493' first='Kentrell' last='Gaddis II'] this offseason and he might fully emerge as one of the top overall playmakers in the state this season. Defensively, he's been a dude for the Yellowjackets in the secondary at safety. But if team camp was any indication, the Yellowjackets are going to use him more on the offensive side of the ball. And he made plenty of big plays when he was on offense as well. We believe he's one of the better athletes in the state's 2028 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1832403' first='Rahmel' last='Slaughter-Bey'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Shawnee

Shawnee 2027 wide receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1832403' first='Rahmel' last='Slaughter-Bey'] is another prospect that we watched tear it up at one of our 7v7 tournaments this year. He was already on our radar but he's had a very strong offseason and that continued during the team camp in Choctaw. We lost track of how many plays the 2027 prospect ended up making and he was doing it on both sides of the ball. We feel like he probably had a better day on defense but there's no doubt that he had a terrific day on both sides.
