We just released our updated 2029 rankings, and we've already gone behind the scenes of this update's creation. We had 20 stock risers in a new-player-heavy update, so we're going through the players who rose in the rankings. Here, we're looking at the skill position players: the quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers who moved up in our 2029 rankings update.

Monroe was initially ranked in November because of his ability as a kick and punt returner. Then we had the chance to dive into his film earlier this offseason when he made both the Wake County WRs and Triangle Athletes Top 10 lists in March. It was there that we realized that not only does he have the early production we like to see, but he has the athletic profile to stay near the top of the rankings.

Francis was impressive enough in limited passing reps last year to earn a spot in the winter rankings update. But it was hard to tell in his run-first offense how talented he actually is. At our Prep Redzone Exposure Camp, Francis had by far the most surprising arm. The ball jumps out of his hand in a way you only see from top passers. Because of his age, he still has plenty of time to develop, and he should have the chance against top competition this year to prove he's one of the top sophomore passers in the state.

Morales is one of a couple of rising sophomore signal-callers who impressed me at our Prep Redzone Exposure Camp. While Morales' movement and fast times surprised me, I was more impressed with his obvious progress as a passer. At camp, I saw a guy who had clearly improved from just a few short months before, and if he continues that upward trajectory, this won't be his last time on a stock-riser list.

Davis is one of our only stock-risers who moved less on his offseason moves and more on a re-evaluation of the season. Grimsley has a strong freshman class, and to contribute at that age on a state-champion team, a player needs to be both physically gifted and mature. Davis looks like a guy who should continue to grow. Grimsley gets a couple of playmakers back from injury, so if Davis continues to be one of the top targets as a sophomore, we'll know that he's a guy to watch for several seasons.

We initially ranked Brooks on the back of his 800 yards as a freshman for North Stanly. As we've learned more about him, we like what we've seen and think he could turn into one of the best recruits in North Stanly's recent history. His physical tools are impressive, with excellent speed and initial burst. He also showed that he excels at the small things you look for from backs. He has patience, wiggle, and excellent contact balance.
