Enjoy! Norman North bounced back from a blowout loss to Owasso by handing Moore their first loss in week six. The Timberwolves were dominant on both sides of the ball from start to finish and showed why they could be a team to watch out for when the playoffs roll around. To read the complete game recap, check that out RIGHT HERE. For now, we take a look at several Norman North prospects who shined on both sides of the ball Friday night. [player_tooltip player_id="157522" first="Chapman" last="McKown"] - 2023 Running Back When it comes to the Norman North offense, a lot of the conversation quickly goes to the quarterback with [player_tooltip player_id="108886" first="Gavin" last="Frakes"] as he has been one of the top overall players in the state so far this season. However, if you look at the production of this offense, you can’t help but notice that Frakes is having plenty of help in the backfield with the emergence of junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="157522" first="Chapman" last="McKown"]. One of our scouts watched McKown this offseason and had a lot of faith that he would end up being a breakout star this year for the Timberwolves on the offensive side of the ball. That’s exactly what I saw Thursday night as McKown, despite being somewhat undersized for the running back position, was an absolute workhorse and finished with well over 100 yards and he ran for a touchdown and also caught a touchdown. The 1-2 punch of McKown and Frakes in the Norman North backfield give the T’Wolves a legitimate threat to be a dark horse contender in Class 6A-1. We’ve seen the numbers that they can put up when they’re clicking and if they’re clicking in November, watch out. [player_tooltip player_id="61131" first="Duncan" last="Parham"] - 2022 Linebacker You can make the argument that the top overall prospect on Norman North’s team this year is their senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="61131" first="Duncan" last="Parham"]. He came into this season as one of the top linebackers in the state and he’s really only backed up that status throughout the season. A week after the T’Wolves gave up 70 points to Owasso, the Norman North defense bounced back in a big way as they held Moore to just six points. And in reality, the Norman North starters were out of the game when the Moore touchdown was scored as time expired. Parham was dominant on Thursday night and was an absolute nightmare to stay in front of as he would consistently get into the Moore backfield. The combination of Parham and defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="38781" first="Parker" last="Andrews"] (featured below) was a 1-2 punch that Moore’s offense had no answer for. They were a big reason why the Lions were shut out for 47 minutes and 58 seconds. Parham made some spectacular plays in the backfield but he was also making plenty of tackles in the open field. The motor that Parham has at the linebacker position is hard to replicate and he continued to show why he’s one of the top available linebackers in the senior class. [player_tooltip player_id="108886" first="Gavin" last="Frakes"] - 2022 Quarterback We’ve seen all of the monster numbers that Norman North senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="108886" first="Gavin" last="Frakes"] has put up so it was exciting to see him have to fight a little adversity on Thursday night. Granted, it wasn’t that much adversity as the T’Wolves still got out of week six with a big win. But passing the ball wasn’t the easiest thing on Thursday against a Moore secondary that had some decent players. However, it was apparent pretty quickly that the T’Wolves were going to be able to run against the Lions and that’s exactly where the game plan went. In addition to the big night from McKown at running back, Frakes would also showcase his abilities as a runner. Frakes and the Norman North offense absolutely torched Moore on the ground and Frakes was able to do plenty of damage on the ground. Frakes was still able to make some fantastic throws and in fact, his second touchdown pass to McKown was one play from start to finish that not many other quarterbacks can make. The Princeton QB commit continues to raise his stock and show that he’s one of the best 2022 QB’s in Oklahoma. [player_tooltip player_id="38781" first="Parker" last="Andrews"] - 2023 Defensive End It was great to just see [player_tooltip player_id="38781" first="Parker" last="Andrews"] back on the field and dominating his opponent. Don’t get us wrong, Andrews has been wrecking shop all season but this was my first opportunity to see him in person this year. I was high on Andrews last summer going into his sophomore year and then he got injured and had his season cut short due to surgery. On Thursday night, Andrews was excellent in rushing the passer as the Lions struggled from start to finish in the passing game. We mentioned it with Parham, but when Andrews and the dynamic linebacker were lined up on the same side, Moore had no answer for it as those two got into the backfield with no problems. Andrews was also outstanding in rush defense and helped contain a few of Moore’s big play weapons. As mentioned with Parham again, the starting defensive unit for Norman North pitched a shutout and kept the Lions out of the end zone. Andrews is making up for lost time last year and is off to a great start this year. Expect his stock to continue to go up.
