The Gretna Dragons have a couple of sophomore breakout candidates on their defensive line, including Carter Blayney Carter Blayney 6'5" | 205 lbs | DL Gretna | 2028 State NE , who played a limited role last season. As a sophomore, Carter ended the year with 13 tackles and a half TFL. There are still raw aspects to Carter’s game, but all the tools are there, including a tall, lengthy frame at 6’5″ and 205 pounds with room to continue growing. He holds up well when engaged with blockers, displaying the strength in his base to anchor down to keep from being pushed back, and can even drive linemen off their spot. Carter’s motor is going from snap to whistle, and it shows in a few great plays where he chased the ball carrier downfield to make the stop. Lots to like here… wouldn’t be surprised to see coaches start to ask about Carter if he comes out firing this fall!
