He is a true inside backer who is a banger in between the tackles. Weller can blow up lead blockers and can get downhill in a hurry as a pass rusher. He times his blitzes very well and is a physical tackler. Weller scrapes well on outside runs and has solid lateral quickness. He is an under-recruited guy who would be great for an Ivy League school or at most FCS schools.

Current Ranking and Potential Bump: An excuse for me to write about a California prospect, my first time doing so. Pleased to head back home and find Jack Weller ranked as a top 150 2028 in all of California, high praise from our PRZ CA site. Unsure of the PA connection, or if Villanova is truly recruiting him, but it says something that he showed up and looked great against Northeast TEs/RBs. I do not handle PRZ California rankings, yet I can understand why Weller is labeled a Top 20 California 2028 backer. I know Cali is brimming with talent, as the pool expands, Weller could drop in number, yet I imagine his true recruiting grade won’t change, if not, it could improve. Interesting watch.
Weller checks into our rankings as another one of the top linebackers in this class and is a true inside guy that bangs in between the tackles and packs a punch at the point of attack. He is a downhill player that can apply pressure up the middle, is a sure tackler and runs his feet through contact. He shows he is a very high IQ player with well timed pressures, can quickly scrape over the top and get off blocks and is seemingly always around the ball making plays. With still two years left in his prep career, he should draw plenty of Ivy League and FCS interest/offers as he is a very high academic kid that is going to be a nice steal down the line.
