Humphries is another transfer from Nevada to Southern California and is a very good two-way player who should have a monster senior season and draw plenty of FCS attention here late and through his senior season. He is a natural cover guy with ball skills, fluid hips and good feet in transition and can attack the ball and bait poor throws over the middle. In the run game he shows he can close downhill, takes proper angles in space and packs a punch at the POA while flashing a very high IQ and is seemingly always around the football at the third level. He should fit nicely as a true safety in college and has the right frame, hips, ball skills and downhill mentality for the college level.
Humphries had 27 tackles and two interceptions for Coronado of Nevada last season. He also played quarterback and threw for 1526 yards with 17 touchdowns and ran for four touchdowns.
As a safety, he’s best a zone defender who can play in single high and two high shells. He reads the run well and flies up the field to make plays in the run game, which is something the San Clemente coaching staff will love.
Humphries picked up his first D-I offer from Sacramento St. at the start of the month. The 5’11″/175 DB out of Coronado was a new addition to PRZ NV’s overall top-30 rankings in January after putting together a breakout sophomore season in the fall. Totaled 4 INTs and 45 tackles last season. He’s an all-purpose safety that can tackle, produce turnovers, and make plays in space. Fast and physical downhill tackler that can close quickly and plays with great instincts and anticipation in coverage. Humphries is on the rise coming into his junior season.
Humphries was a new addition to the 2027 DB rankings with his strong production on the ball against the state’s top competition in 5A. The 5’11″/175 safety totaled 45 tackles and a team-leading 4 INTs as a junior. He’s a well-rounded athlete that can tackle, cover, and make plays in space. Strong, reliable tackler that can wrap up in the open field and make rangy plays towards the sidelines as a single-high safety with his speed and efficient angles of pursuit. Shows great anticipation and natural ball skills as a turnover producer in coverage. Humphries’ stock is on the rise coming into this offseason with his strong sophomore showing.
