There have been countless close matchups throughout the state, impressive performances each week, and highlight tapes being created by the student-athletes. We’re going to be evaluating some of these highlights that have been sent my way through Twitter for the Class of 24’. Without further ado, let’s dive into the midseason highlights of these student-athletes.
25s
Jovan Clark Jovan Clark 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Morgan Park | 2025 State IL 6’0 195 Morgan Park ATH Twitter Film
Mr. Clark is a young talented player that has a high upside. He fills holes in run support, has the closing speed to cover sideline to sideline, and gets pressure on the quarterback off the edge. Furthering this, he takes backside pursuit to make the tackle downfield, breaks down before making open-field tackles, and attacks. On offense, he brusts through the line of scrimmage when lined up at half back where he changes his gears quickly and attacks.
Logan Malachuk Logan Malachuk 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Nazareth Academy | 2025 State IL Nazareth Academy QB Twitter Film
Mr. Malachuk has made his mark on Varsity these last few games as he can make level 1 2 & 3 throws. He can put touch on the ball or put zip on it, can get the ball off under pressure, and puts the ball in the receiver’s basket. What’s impressive is how he can make off-platform cross body throws at such a young age and how quickly he gets the ball out when running RPOs. When he’s flushed out of the pocket he doesn’t have a problem pulling the ball down to scramble adding more strain on the opposing defense.
Gabe Kaminski 6’3 215 Nazareth Academy DE Twitter Film
Mr. Kaminski uses his hands at the point of attack resulting in filling gaps in run support and getting pressure on the quarterback. He holds contain in the C gap before attacking the ball carrier, gets off blocks to make the tackle, and takes pursuit angles to make the tackle downfield.
Brayden Trimble 6’0 160 Mt Zion WR Twitter Film
Mr. Trimble is quick off the line of scrimmage that can win over the top on the fly route showcasing his deep-threat ability. He gets upfield once securing the catch, is elusive making defenders miss, and uses his change of direction to stop on a dime before accelerating to full speed quickly. In the run game, he crack blocks the outside linebackers, stalk blocks the defensive back downfield, and can make the catch in traffic furthering his playmaking abilities.
Tyler Lofton 5’11 192 Marian Catholic RB Twitter Film
Stats: 49 carries for 759 yards, 12 TDs
Mr. Loften runs a 4.58 40-yard dash as a Freshman, this young man has the potential to become a stellar player not only for his team but in the state. The skillset that he’s showcased so far has been impressive on the JV level, what I’m most excited for is how those skills transition to the Varsity level.
Dominic West Dominic West 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Downers Grove South | 2025 IL 6’0 165 Downers Grove South QB Twitter Film
Mr. West has shown potential on the JV level making a range of different throws. This is exciting as it gives him a good foundational skill set to build off of as he continues to hone his craft. He runs the read-option showcasing his mobility, this is going to be something to keep an eye on moving forward as this skillset will stretch the defense as it’s another item they will have to gameplan for.
Jack Elliott Jack Elliott 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Mount Carmel | 2025 State IL 5’10 165 Mount Carmel QB Twitter Film
Mr. Elliott has shown that he will stay in the pocket to get the ball off under pressure on the JV level. For a young quarterback to have that skill set is impressive, pair that with him running read options, it puts strain on the opposing defense. As he continues to develop further, this is going to be an area to keep an eye on.
Jackson Alcorn 6’0 170 Burlington Central QB Twitter Film
Mr. Alcorn has a solid foundation of skillsets at the quarterback position such as stepping up in the pocket at the JV level. Pair this with his ability to scramble and you have a young man that will pose a threat to opposing defenses. He’s a young prospect to keep an eye on moving forward, biggest skill set to watch is his off-platform throws and throw on the run as he awaits his first Varsity snaps.
Charlie Cruse Charlie Cruse 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Downers Grove North | 2025 State IL 6’0 150 Downers Grove North WR/DB Twitter Film
Mr. Cruse is used on both sides of the ball. He has the potential to play both on Varisty depending on how he develops each positional skill set. Currently, on the JV level, he’s showcased a glimpse of attacking the ball carrier which is what you like to see out of a defensive back. Time will tell which position he falls into.
Braylon Bower Braylon Bower 5'10" | 165 lbs | QB Huntley | 2025 IL 5’11 165 Huntley QB Twitter FIlm
JV Stats: 6 passing TDs, 0 INT, 3 rushing TDs
