Five 2028 QBs to keep an eye on

We're nearly a month through the 2025 Tennessee high school football season, so there's a good sample size for players, including underclassmen. There's been a plethora of talented 2028 players who have stepped up for their respective teams.   After taking a closer look, we'll focus on five sophomore signal callers who have shown flashes of being very good players. [player_tooltip player_id='1287058' first='Gavin' last='Hampton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1036255' first='Price' last='Renovich'], [player_tooltip player_id='1588108' first='Jour'din' last='Shelton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1037302' first='Thomas' last='Heffner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1094224' first='Brooks' last='Wright'] have been productive players with bright futures.   They're all mobile with three being legit dual-threat players, but all offer a lot through the air.    Hampton has certainly had his ups and downs in his first season as a varsity starter. However, he's shown a lot of upside and has the tools to become one of the best players in the state. He's got a good frame with room to put on weight while having the ability to scramble or keep a play alive.   Hampton also has good technique in the pocket and nice footwork, which makes him a legitimate threat in the passing game. The sophomore quarterback features good accuracy, velocity on his passes and a plus deep ball.     The 2028 quarterback was highly productive in limited time during his freshman season. Renovich built on that success and looks great in 2025. His team is 3-0 while he's balled out, including a performance last week where he racked up 232 total yards and four touchdowns on just four drives.   Renovich has a good arm with nice footwork, great running ability and good decision-making. The 6-foot-1 signal caller is a true dual-threat player with nice speed.   What stands out the most is his ability to improvise. He's good at running around or evading defenders in the pocket to make big throws.     Shelton is a good player for Germantown, showing flashes of being one of the top quarterbacks in the state. He's a good passer who's accurate while having a nice touch on his throws and a good deep ball. The sophomore QB is confident in the pocket and moves around well.   While he's a good passer, Shelton can also hurt you with his legs. He's fast but also has good vision to weave around defenders.     Heffner was solid in starting his Melrose High School career, leading his squad to a 2-1 record while passing for 714 yards and five touchdowns. He features a strong and accurate arm, especially on deep throws, where he excels.   He's not insanely mobile, but it's enough to stay alive on plays and force teams to watch for a scramble play. Heffner has completed over 74% of his passes this year on 62 attempts, proving he can be an efficient signal caller.     The sophomore quarterback has been solid for Memphis Central to begin the 2025 campaign as his team sits at 2-0. The 2028 signal caller has solid footwork in the pocket, but likes to scramble outside to make a play downfield. Speaking of which, he has a good arm and is accurate on deep balls. He's great at completing off-platform throws, flinging the pigskin effortlessly while on the run.   Brooks is fairly mobile, which forces defenses to respect both parts of his game. He's a solid player who could grow into one of the better QBs in Tennessee.
