The 2025 high school football season is less than a month away — during which time Prep Redzone Louisiana is in the process of releasing rankings updates for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes and the first watch list for the incoming 2029 class.

A new 185-man list for the 2027 cycle hits the site this week. And, along with the update, we will count down the top 50 prospects in greater detail, including many familiar faces but also a few new additions.

Here's a look at Nos. 20-11.

No. 20 — [player_tooltip player_id='940554' first='Trenajh' last='Smith'] — 6-1, 170 DB — South Terrebonne

The long, athletic corner is one of a few longtime Prep Redzone Louisiana favorites in the class to help kick off this segment of the rankings update countdown. Smith finished his sophomore season with five interceptions, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles and 59 tackles, including a pair for loss — a stat line that provides a glimpse to his well-rounded game as not only an effective cover corner, but also a willing, physical tackler on the perimeter and in run support.

No. 19 — [player_tooltip player_id='1250280' first='Ryan' last='Moore Jr.'] — 5-10, 160 ATH — East Feliciana

Another somewhat under-the-radar prospect who has been PRZLA favorite since the 2027 class began high school, "Bug" is one of the most versatile and dynamic players in the class as a quick, explosive weapon on offense and in the return game and playmaker in the secondary with his speed, instincts and ball skills.

No. 18 — [player_tooltip player_id='1137410' first='Morris' last='Walters'] — 6-1, 180 WR — Jeanerette

Walters has been an explosive weapon for the Tigers the past two years with the size, speed and ball skills to attack every level of the field, including consistently blowing the top off of opposing defenses for big-play touchdowns. UTSA and Florida Atlantic have extended early offers.

No. 17 — [player_tooltip player_id='1610147' first='Ethan' last='Kimmie'] — 6-4, 190 WR/DB

The intriguing multisport athlete stood out as a freshman on the basketball court for U-High, then was one of the highest debuts in the Prep Redzone Louisiana rankings earlier this year on the heels of a sophomore season in which he showed flashes as both a tall target in the passing game on offense and a long, rangy safety on defense. Kimmie appears to be only beginning to scratch the surface, but his frame, athleticism and ball skills are eye-catching traits early in his development.

No. 16 — [player_tooltip player_id='934561' first='Rontrae' last='Carter'] — 5-11, 165 DB — Archbishop Shaw

Carter has been a versatile defensive playmaker for the Eagles from his eighth-grade season and continues to mature into a bigger leader for the program now preparing for his fourth season as a starter as a junior. This past season, on Archbishop Shaw's title run, the instinctive ballhawk snatched a pair of interceptions and racked up 59 tackles, including 43 solo stops and a team-high 6.5 for loss, as a quick, physical presence near the line of scrimmage.

No. 15 — [player_tooltip player_id='1593649' first='Zyion' last='Wesley'] — 6-4, 285 OL — Edna Karr

The Cougars' big right tackle was one of the highest-ranked debuts on the list on the heels of his sophomore season and is one of the state's top junior offensive linemen entering this season. Wesley's emergence this past season was a notable development for the loaded and dominant Edna Karr team on its run to the Division-I Select title. He has great size for the next level, moves well and may provide some positional versatility for whichever program ultimately lands his signature.

No. 14 — [player_tooltip player_id='1610246' first='Trey' last='Martin'] — 5-11, 185 RB/DB — Franklin Parish

The big stock-riser in this range, Martin is a solidly built, versatile athlete whose combination of physicality, instincts, speed and ball skills have made him a notable playmaker for the Patriots as a running back, safety and return man. And after an offseason of work on the 7-on-7 circuit and in Franklin Parish's strength and conditioning program, the expectations for his upcoming junior season are high and a slew of Division-I offers have already started to arrive.

No. 13 — [player_tooltip player_id='1356127' first='Ray'Quan' last='Williams'] — 6-0, 165 WR — St. Augustine

and No. 12 — [player_tooltip player_id='1323402' first='Miguel' last='Whitley'] — 6-0, 170 WR — St. Augustine

Another slight move up for the Purple Knights' highly touted 2027 receiver duo on both the position and overall prospects lists as they continue to establish themselves as two of the best of Louisiana's loaded class of pass-catchers. The friends have similar athletic profiles with frames, speed and ball skills that are checking boxes for a long list of top-tier college programs across the country. Whitley is slightly bigger, more thickly built athlete, but both he and Williams have shown the ability to stretch field vertically, create quick separation around the goal line, make tough catches through contact and make plays with the ball in their hands after shorter, quicker throws or in the return game.

No. 11 — [player_tooltip player_id='1356159' first='Jayden' last='Anding'] — 6-0, 165 DB — Ruston

The younger Anding brother started to come into his own down the stretch of his sophomore season and during this offseason and is one of the headliners of a once again title-minded Bearcats squad entering this fall. Like Aidan, Jayden is a fluid multisport athlete with good ball skills, but "little" brother is actually a slightly bigger and more physical player at this stage and, as effective as he is playing back in space, is a willing and reliable tackler crashing down in run support or on underneath routes.
