It was a tale of two halves for the elite sophomore gunslinger from West Catholic. The first half was a slugfest with Will playing the game manager role. He did a wonderful job of controlling the tempo and reading defenders on the RPO action. Playing a light and clean first half. In the 2nd half he got going immediately. hitting a striding receiver up the sideline for his first TD. He was rolling from there connecting with multiple other receivers for TDs throughout the night.

Will was extremely impressive in west catholics big win Friday over spring lake. Will showed toughness as he sat in the pocket and delivered darts all night to a very impressive group of wide outs. Will displayed very good accuracy and made a few very tough throws look very routine. Will throws a very catchable ball and made a few throws as the right handed Qb rolled to his left and put the ball right on the numbers of the wide out. I was also impressed with the poise will displayed as he took a few sacks but got up and made a play immediately on the next play to move the chains and keep the chains moving. Will is a high caliber Qb and he west catholic sitting at 5-1 and with him at the helm the falcons are in very good hands for the next few years. Keep an eye on will as this young gun slinger has a very high ceiling has yet to hit his max potential which is scary for anyone on the schedule that has to face him.

There aren’t many 2029s making the caliber of throws Will is, especially this consistently! Not only that, but being this efficient is incredibly impressive. Through 3 weeks, Will is 38/54 with 610 yards and 7 touchdowns. Will has the technical aspects of the QB position down. His consistency with his mechanics and throwing motion allows him to be very accurate and make high level throws. He does it all with confidence too, hitting out routes with great timing and can absolutely uncork it on deep balls with great touch. As he continues to develop physically, these throws will only get more consistent and easier for Smith. Big stock riser that will be a household name before long.

Will is another prospect that I’ve spent a lot of time around that I have been itching to get a real look at. Smith had an outstanding summer so it’s no surprise he won the quarterback battle at the storied West Catholic. He was able to slice up the defense both through the air and the ground. He attacked the middle of the field and both sidelines with intermediate throws and downfield balls. He executed from the pocket with pressure in his face while also being on time with the ball when rolling out. Will finished 13 for 16 for 217 yards and 2 TDs, one of them rushing, in what I like to call a near perfect varsity debut performance.
