The top running back prospect at the Fairmont State Elite Camp may have been 2027 Laurel Highlands (PA) RB [player_tooltip player_id='952749' first='Giovanni' last='Guerriere']. His top performance was rewarded with a rare rising junior D2 scholarship offer from the host Falcons after the camp. Gurriere is a stocky athlete with explosive capability that he first displayed during bag drills in the indy period. He has a powerful lower body that allows him to move fluidly with very good quickness.

We liked 2027 Fairmont Senior prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1326535' first='Rudy' last='Carrillo'] as a DB right now, where he ranks in the Top 5, but his ceiling is also high as a running back. He was a Top Performer at both positions at our Stock Up Showcase earlier this year and looked good working out at running back at the Fairmont State Elite Camp. Carrillo was one of the fastest athletes in attendance, with a 4.65 40 time and an athletic build to match. His athletic upside makes him one of the early top prospects in the 2027 class and a must know name for colleges.

2027 Uniontown (PA) RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='1181785' first='Michael' last='Thomas'] is highly thought of by our Pennsylvania site, and you could see why at the Fairmont State Elite Camp. Ranked as a linebacker but elected to work out as a running back, Thomas has upside at both positions and the athleticism to thrive at either. Size likely keeps him at running back or safety in college, but Thomas proved he has the athletic ability to play either. He showed good lateral quickness going through bag drills and is light on his feet for cutting and change of direction ability.

Fairmont Senior was double-dipping with impressive running back performances at the Fairmont Senior Elite Camp on Saturday, and the second being 2026 RB/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1138994' first='Tarran' last='Boda']. He was right in the mix for top performance among the running backs with teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1326535' first='Rudy' last='Carrillo']. Boda has an athletic build that he proved during the testing period with a 4.75 40, 8.5-foot broad jump, and 4.47 shuttle time. He also had a nice showing during 1-on-1s, proving he can be a good safety net for his quarterback in the short passing game or allow his athleticism to take him down the field for a deep ball. Boda has played a lot of linebacker to date, but his size and athleticism project him as a RB or Safety at the next level.

2026 Spring Mills RB [player_tooltip player_id='894727' first='Blake' last='Sanders'] is a familiar name to people in WV as one of the better running backs in his class. We got to see him in person for the first time in a year, and Sanders still has that high-level quickness that he displays on Friday nights. His 8.5-foot broad jump and 4.5 pro shuttle time proved as much, along with quality straightline speed with a 4.82 40. Sanders was smooth during bag drills, further showcasing that quickness and lateral ability. His build and skill set may even translate well to slot receiver at the next level.

This was the first time getting to see 2026 Spring Valley RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='1683404' first='Zeke' last='Lewis'] in person, and he's an impressive-looking athlete. Lewis has a well-developed build with good size and eye-opening athleticism for it. He ran a 4.81 40, broad jumped 9.3 feet, and had a very solid 4.46 shuttle time, which were all great numbers for his size. Lewis is firmly on our radar now, heading into the next rankings update later this summer as an under-the-radar rising senior to know this fall.

Hampshire brought a pair of good running back athletes with them to the Fairmont State Elite Camp. The first name to know is rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='1683405' first='Sean' last='King'], who could also play safety at the next level. We weren't familiar with King before the camp, but he has the athletic intangibles to play himself into some D2 looks this fall for the Trojans. He'll benefit from added size and strength at the next level, but proved he has the athleticism to play in college with a 4.79 40, 8.4-foot broad jump, and a 4.53 shuttle. King played a lot of OLB last season, but his skill set and athleticism would translate well to box safety with extended RB opportunities coming this season.

The second Hampshire running back to know is 2027 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1683406' first='Roscoe' last='Dean']. His 6'0 195 size is accurate, which is a great build to continue to mold and work with over the next two years. Dean impressed during testing with a 4.69 40 and the best broad jump at the camp, leaping nearly 10 feet. He has the body type to carry the load this fall for the Trojans for a balanced offense and pass-catching ability out of the backfield. In a class light on running back names right now, look for Dean to place highly in our upcoming summer rankings update.
