One quarterback stood out from the rest last month during the Prepredzone.com Minnesota Spring Showcase. It was not [player_tooltip player_id='1419908' first='Ali' last='Farfan'] from St. Paul Johnson's first experience with the Showcase series. This time, Farfan had some unfinished business.

"Last year, I went to the combine, and I thought I did good, but it must not have been good enough," Farfan said. "I felt like I did good enough to get MVP, but I didn't get it. This time, I think I did great throughout the whole combine. I think I did well throwing-wise."

The junior also wanted to take coaching and improve his game.

"I came to the combine to learn and get better. I wanted to learn from other coaches. We were talking about the eyes and the feet. When my eyes go one way – then my feet go next. I felt that tip helped me throughout the day."

Farfan felt one area of the day put him in a position to win the MVP.

"In the one-on-ones, I was throwing great. Throughout the whole day, I tried to stay consistent."

Working on his craft in the offseason was not a one-day thing for the Governors' quarterback.

"This winter, I was doing seven on seven and doing the football weight program at St. Paul Johnson. This spring, I am trying to get to a lot of camps and talking to a lot of college coaches. I am still doing seven-on-seven as well."

Seven-on-seven has helped develop what Farfan feels is his strength.

"I think my strength is reading the field. I am not saying I have a huge arm, but I have the arm talent to throw the ball anywhere on the field."

That doesn't mean he is not looking to improve his ability to dissect defenses.

"I am working on my throwing motion," Farfan told prepredzone.com. "I am thinking about coverages and the mental part of the game."

College programs have started to notice the junior gunslinger.

"During the season, recruiting wasn't going well," Farfan—who enjoys bass fishing with friends and family when not on a football field—said. This winter, I heard from a few college coaches. I don't have any offers yet, though."

"I have talked to Augustana and Southwest Minnesota State," Farfan continued. "I have heard from New Hampshire, but most of it has been camp invites, questionnaires, and stuff."

If he competes well this summer, he should have more interest heading into his senior year. "I am going to camp at Mankato State, North Dakota State, Augustana, Northern Iowa, the mega camp in River Falls, and one other mega camp."
