Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Gronewold first stood out to me when watching him compete at the Back2Ballin 7-on-7 tournament this spring in Cedar Falls. He looked capable of impacting the action on both sides of the ball. When seeing him again during Week 2 of the 2025 season against Cedar Rapids Washington, Gronewold shined as a versatile member of the North Scott secondary. He ranked among the team’s leading tacklers in the contest, recording four solo stops, and adding a tackle for loss. Groneweld is a long-limbed athlete that can run and jump. In this game, he looked comfortable covering the slot and supporting the run. Colleges would be wise to start keeping tabs on Gronewold if they aren’t already.

Gronewold shined during this spring’s Back 2 Ballin 7-on-7 tournament in Cedar Falls. Opponents struggled to cover him when he lined up at wideout. He then made it tough for them to get open when he was in coverage. It’s not surprising considering he plays for a salty Rip City squad and also is being developed in one of the state’s top prep programs. His highlights from his freshman season at North Scott reveal an athlete that could seize an opportunity on a varsity impacted by graduation losses at his positions. A well-rounded receiver, Gronewold succeeds on underneath routes, taking the top off and winning 50-50 balls. His length and fluid hip actions lead to wins in coverage.
