Our final ranking update for the state's 2025 class came out on Thursday. When we first started ranking the state's 2025 class, it began with a Top 25 in February of 2022. Now, it finishes with the Top 300 and many more players listed outside of those 300. Every time we do a ranking update, we dive into the positions with various breakdowns. In this breakdown, we're taking one final look at the tight end position, which does feature the top overall prospect in the state's 2025 class. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2025 breakdowns and more ranking updates throughout the next month!

[player_tooltip player_id='353411' first='Nate' last='Roberts'] - Washington

Washington tight end and Ohio State signee [player_tooltip player_id='353411' first='Nate' last='Roberts'] has had a stranglehold on the top overall spot in the state's 2025 class and he finishes off his career as the number one overall prospect. At the beginning of his high school career, Roberts thought he might be more of a quarterback prospect but eventually that changed and he figured out that tight end would be the right fit for him. He would then help lead Washington to 40+ straight wins and three consecutive state championships. And as we mention all the time when it comes to Roberts, he always had his best moments in those championship games when the lights were brightest. He'll fit right in when he joins the reigning national champions.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187313' first='Riley' last='Ellefson'] - Jones

Jones tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1187313' first='Riley' last='Ellefson'] has been a guy that has impressed us on both sides of the ball over the last few years but there's no doubt he is at his best on the offensive side of the ball. He's a tall target that was very successful in the Jones offense over the last few years. Towards the end of the 2024 season, Ellefson would commit and eventually sign with Stephen F Austin. That's a good get for them as they get a tight end prospect that still has room to grow and with that comes the ability to get better. Every time we've seen Ellefson in person over the last few years, which was a handful of times, he's routinely been one of the better players on the football field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187311' first='Jon' last='Grimmett'] - Pauls Valley

Pauls Valley standout and Purdue signee [player_tooltip player_id='1187311' first='Jon' last='Grimmett'] is in a similar conversation to Ellefson where he has been incredibly productive on both sides of the ball. Grimmett initially signed with UNLV but when head coach Barry Odom left UNLV for Purdue, Grimmett got a release from UNLV and was able to follow Odom to Purdue and into the Big Ten conference. And it seems like we run into a player like this every time we do a ranking but to be honest, Grimmett is too low. You look at the production on the offensive and defensive side of the ball and you can make a very strong argument that he should be significantly higher. We're looking forward to seeing how his career looks in a major conference.

[player_tooltip player_id='1136250' first='Gervon' last='Washington'] - Muskogee

Muskogee tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1136250' first='Gervon' last='Washington'] is another prospect in the state's 2025 class that definitely falls under the "underrated" category. Washington is an absolute monster on the football field but Muskogee's offense has definitely been stacked over the last two seasons and there's only one football so he might not have the production as some of the other guys on this breakdown. But when you look at Washington as the individual prospect, you see a very athletic guy with size that has some of his best football still ahead of him. The last time we watched Washington in person, he was making some big plays down the stretch in the state championship game. He has a high ceiling as a prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='724375' first='Myles' last='Davis'] - Union

Our final breakdown is on Union's [player_tooltip player_id='724375' first='Myles' last='Davis'] and he's another guy at this position that has shown to be valuable elsewhere. First off, Davis is an incredibly reliable target at the tight end position. We have seen that for several years now on the 7v7 circuit and then he followed it up with some big moments in the fall during his senior season. But Davis is also one of the state's best punters and so whether it's on offense or special teams, Davis is a prospect that can help a team at the next level. He's been a fun player to watch up close at the tight end position during the offseason and we think that he's incredibly underrated as a special teams weapon from the punter position.
