We've finished revamping the 24' rankings totaling 74 players. These are young athletes who got their first season of high school football under their belts and will be names to keep an eye on as they continue to develop and hone their craft. With that being said, let's take a first look at the 24' QBs.
[player_tooltip player_id="121350" first="Alessio" last="Milivojevic"] St Francis Twitter Mr. Milivojevic is from St Francis, he played a majority of his snaps on JV while also mixing in playing time on Varsity this past spring season. What I like most about this young man is his poise in the pocket while the pocket is collapsing where he gets the ball off as he's getting pressured. Standing at 6'0 190 he has an impressive arm talent that as he continues to hone his craft and develop further he's going to be scary for opposing defenses. With that being said, this young man is ready to shine this fall with [player_tooltip player_id="132228" first="Domenic" last="Beres"], [player_tooltip player_id="20837" first="T.J." last="McMillen"], [player_tooltip player_id="157980" first="Dash" last="Dorsey"], and company. [player_tooltip player_id="153390" first="Troyer" last="Carlson"] Kaneland Twitter Mr. Calrson is from Kaneland, he got his feet wet on Varsity as a Freshman this past spring season where he showcased what he can do. What stands out most to me about this young man is how he's able to stay in the pocket to get the ball downfield into his receiver's hands while the pocket is collapsing and pressure is in his face. He's a taller QB standing at 6'2 165 and has solid pocket footwork which he uses to evade pressure as well as making the throw on the run. Mr. Carlson is ready to shine come the fall season and build upon his momentum from the spring. [player_tooltip player_id="161346" first="Dennis" last="Mandala"] IC Catholic Prep Twitter Mr. Mandala is from IC Catholic Prep, he played on Varsity as a Freshman this past spring where he showcased his abilities. This young man only stands at 5'9 150 but man can he play. He already possesses pocket footwork on his dropbacks and puts the ball in his receiver's basket. What I like most about him is his ability to get the ball off under pressure and his ability to run with the ball when he scrambles as well as when he runs read-options, once he hits that second gear it's off to the races as he blows by the 2nd level of defenders. Mr. Mandala is a name to keep an eye on as he continues to develop further and hone his craft. [player_tooltip player_id="161199" first="Jaylan" last="Madison"] Phillips Twitter Mr. Madison is from Phillips, he played on Varsity as a Freshman this past spring where he showcased what he can do. This young man stands at 5'9 165 but has the skillset to become a solid QB over the next few seasons as he continues to develop and hone his craft. What I like most about this young man is his arm strength that he showcased when taking deep shots downfield. Mr. Madison has time to develop further and I look forward to seeing where he's at by the end of his career. [player_tooltip player_id="160516" first="Diego" last="Gutierrez"] Riverside Brookfield Twitter Mr. Gutierrez is from Riverside Brookfield, he split snaps on JV and Varisty this past spring where he showcased what he can do. What I like most about this young man is his ability to step up in the pocket getting the throw-off under pressure to his man downfield. There are countless plays like that in the first minute of his highlight film which caught my eye as that's a skill set most young QBs don't possess. Mr. Gutierrez stands at 6'0 180, as he continues to hone his craft and develop further he will be a name to keep an eye on this fall season. [player_tooltip player_id="153532" first="Ryan" last="Jackson"] Lyons Township Mr. Jackson is from Lyons Township, he split snaps on JV and Varsity this past spring where he showcased what he can do. Standing at 5'10 180, his ability to make the bullet pass in tight coverage by putting zip on the ball is a sight to see. What I like most about this young man is his pocket footwork before zipping the ball into tight coverage, he sets his feet then delivers the ball into the receiver's basket which goes hand in hand with his baseball skillset. Mr. Jackson still has room to develop further and hone his craft, keep a lookout on how he does. [player_tooltip player_id="891895" first="NaCari" last="McFarland"] IC Catholic Prep Twitter Mr. McFarland is from IC Catholic Prep, he played on JV as a Freshman this past spring where he showcased what he can do. What I like most about this young man is his ability to move the pocket making the throw on the run and if his man isn't open downfield pulling the ball down to scramble. This young man stands at 6'4, pending his further development, can become a Top 24' QB in IL when it's all said and done. He possesses the groundwork ability to become a top-tier dual-threat QB in the state, he's a name to watch this fall and moving forward. [player_tooltip player_id="118868" first="Casey" last="Giemzik"] Brother Rice Twitter Mr. Giemzik is from Brother Rice, he played on JV as a Freshman this past spring and showcased what he can do. What I like most about this young man is the pocket footwork he showcased and the timing of routes with his receivers. He has a good frame standing at 6'2 195 and showcased his skillset on the mound in baseball. Mr. Giemzik is ready to make a name for himself come this fall season as he's been in the gym and in the lab to hone his craft to develop further. [player_tooltip player_id="161316" first="Braden" last="Tischer"] 5'10 155 Lincoln-Way East Twitter Mr. Tischer is from Lincoln-Way East, he played on JV as a Freshman this past spring where he showcased what he can do. He stands at 5'10 155 where he gets it done in the air attack and the ground game. What I like most about this young man is his poise in the pocket at the JV level where he doesn't get rattled when the pocket collapses and his ability to scramble with the ball. Mr. Tischer has room to develop further and hone his craft, as he does so keep an eye on how he plays against Varsity competition. [player_tooltip player_id="153813" first="Payton" last="McMillen"] Mt. Vernon Township Twitter Mr. McMillen is from Mt Vernon Township, he played on JV as a Freshman this past spring where he showcased what he can do. He stands at 5'10 155 and showcased glimpses of what's to come as he develops further. What I like most about this young man is how he's able to get the ball off under pressure at the JV level and can scramble as well. It's too early to tell since it was on the JV level, but I'm interested to see how he does against Varsity competition. [player_tooltip player_id="160480" first="Dawson" last="Dorn"] Eureka Mr. Dorn is from Eureka, he played on JV as a Freshman this past spring where he showcased what he can do. He's a smaller QB standing at 5'8 135, in his film he ran read options to show off his mobility. This is early to say but as he continues to grow, hone his craft, and develop I can see this young man switching positions to wideout or running back on the Varsity level. Mr. Dorn has three more years to develop himself and I look forward to seeing how he does.
These are the young men that are getting their first look at the rankings. They put in the hard work, developed their craft, and showcased what they can do during the spring season as well as at showcases/camps. This list is bound to expand as we journey on the 24's high school careers and will continue to grow as we finish each season. Be sure to follow @jamaskane regarding news & information for Illinois High School Football, @PrepRedzoneIL, and @PrepRedzone.
