Typically, I breakdown the rankings by county. But in this case, Orange County is so full of players from Mater Dei (Santa Ana) that I’m going to dedicate two whole stories to Mater Dei players.
It’s no surprise that quarterback Elijah Brown is the top-ranked Mater Dei player in the rankings at No. 8 overall and the third ranked quarterback. Brown showed unique poise in the de facto championship game against St. John Bosco and throws a better deep ball than a lot of senior quarterbacks. He stepped right into the fire at Mater Dei as a freshman and more than held his own. The past Mater Dei quarterbacks to start as freshmen had outstanding college careers.

Aydin Breland Aydin Breland 6'5" | 290 lbs | DL Mater Dei | 2024 State CA is the best defensive lineman in the class and I don’t think it’s particularly close. He is massive at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds and he can bully his way through double teams. He moves very well for how big he is and can be an effective pass rusher too. He has offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas, Oregon and USC.
Zabien Brown Zabien Brown 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Mater Dei | 2024 State CA impressed me in the game against St. John Bosco because a lot of freshman defensive backs are just speedy guys who are learning the game, but he came up to stop the run and showed he is a good tackler. Because of Mater Dei’s depth in the secondary, he was lining up in the slot often in man and zone coverage and he really could play anywhere on the field. He will be the next shutdown corner at Mater Dei who becomes a national recruit. He already has eight offers including Alabama, Georgia and Michigan.
Zabien Brown (@zabien_brown) is a fluid athlete with excellent length.
Very impressed with his instincts and ability to close on the ball.
Bright future for this 2024 DB. pic.twitter.com/5qyEH60Qj7— Kyle Morgan CATAPULT Southwest Regional Scout (@KyleMorgan_XOS) April 20, 2021
Ramere Davis Ramere Davis 6'1" | 190 lbs | LB Mater Dei | 2024 State CA is the younger brother of USC signee Raesjon Davis Raesjon Davis 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Mater Dei | 2021 State CA . Ramere is an outside backer who excels as an edge rusher. He is a great tackler and it will be interesting to see how he does at the varsity level. He already has offers from Florida State, Michigan and Oregon.
Kaho Tuihalamaka Kaho Tuihalamaka 6'4" | 325 lbs | DL Mater Dei | 2024 State CA is another outstanding young defensive tackle who will pair well with Breland for the next few years. He got some playing time as a freshman last spring and had a tackle for a loss against Santa Margarita. He is big at 340 pounds but doesn’t have a lot of varsity film. He has an offer from Hawaii.
Jack Ressler Jack Ressler 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR Mater Dei | 2024 State CA is a receiver that saw some playing time against Bosco and will get a lot more reps this fall. Receivers coach James Finley pulled me aside after the game and told me to keep an eye on Ressler. He runs good routes and has a large catch radius. He already has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Hawaii and Pittsburgh.
CATCH OF THE YEAR NOMINEE‼️
MUST 👀 TWICE!
