feels like one of those “coach is gonna find a spot for him” players because the physicality and effort show up on both sides. Defensively, he brings a real presence in the run game — he’s willing to step up, tackle, and be part of the dirty work, which you don’t always get consistently at that age. He also plays the pass with decent awareness; he isn’t easy to fool, and you can see him picking up on routes and concepts instead of just chasing whatever moves in front of him. The other thing I liked was how he handles contact and blocks — he’ll stack, fight to shed, and keep himself in the play rather than getting washed out. That’s pretty rare from defensive backs, but he plays like a linebacker once he gets down into the box. Offensively, you can see the foundation as a route runner: quick feet, decent ability to sell a stem, and hands that let him actually finish plays when the ball shows up. The next step is smoothing out the transitions — there are moments where the change from one movement to the next isn’t as fluid, and that’s usually where timing and separation start to really matter. But the game speed is noticeable, especially when he’s chasing plays down from behind.

Kauhi is tied for the most offers of any 2029 prospect in the state with four—Sacramento State, Texas State, Hawai‘i, and Georgia State. A true two-way playmaker at WR/DB, he shows strong instincts and an advanced feel for the game at a young age. He plays fast with savvy athleticism, consistently impacting the game from both positions. Defensively, he diagnoses quickly with disciplined eyes and a sharp trigger, allowing him to break on the ball and close space in a hurry. Offensively, he’s a calculated route runner who uses timing, pacing, and well-executed moves to shake coverage. Flashes strong judgment and natural ball skills, attacking the ball in the air with confidence.

was the main threat running the ball for the 14U Vegas Strong team this year, than Tanoah Kauhi was the go-to Wide Receiver. Also like Rayford, I first saw Kauhi two years ago as a member of the Vegas All-Star team and I immediately took a liking to him. Two inches and 10-15 pounds heavier then last year, he finished the 2024 season with an AYF 14U D1 National Championship and 30 receptions for 683 yards and 10 touchdowns. Kauhi also played defense and tallied 30 tackles (2 for loss) and a pair of interceptions.

Looking for elite ball skills? Tanoah makes tough catches look easy. Unlike most receivers at this level, he even brings a little grit to his game. I like that he takes route running seriously and you can tell he prides himself on being a technician. Plays defensive back at a high level as well. Very talented kid with natural ability.
