What a breakout performance it was for this Memphis area running back last week in the Tigers 39-24 region win over Arlington. Talley made the most of every carry he had as he became the 1st ball carrier this season here in Tennessee to run for over 300 yards in a game and he did so on just 25 carries. This was Talley's best showing yet but he's already been on the move as he torched Memphis Central in game one for over 200 yards. The way Talley is running right now tells you he is pushing to become a potential Top 20, possibly a Top 10 running back for the #TN2026 class, so I'll be staying tuned to his work the rest of the season and watch his progression.

It was a tough call between several contenders but I couldn't look past the efficiency and production from Thompson in their region road win over Station Camp last Friday. It was precision work from Thompson against the Bison where he picked apart their defense all night long and did it in constant downpour rain. The conditions alone while throwing four incomplete passes and producing five touchdowns is impressive. Doing all that on the road too is equally impressive. The play of Thompson this early season is a big reason why the Tigers are 3-0 and sit in contention to become 4A region champs.

Pratcher was an absolute force in the Tigers 46-0 beatdown of Oakhaven in Week Three. The Tigers junior defensive tackle made his presence known throughout the entire game by playing in the backfield on a consistent basis while putting pressure on the opposing quarterback. For an interior D-linemen, the stats from Pratcher are silly. Ten tackles alone is something you rarely see but he jarred the ball loose four times as well while picking up three sacks along the way. It was a breakout game for this underclassmen that if he continues to stack together performances like this, Pratcher will see his college interest and stock rise.

O-line of the Week

Cookeville Cavaliers

- The Cavs needed their O-line in a big way last Friday evening in their 42-34 win over White Co. as they opened running holes all night long, helping produce two 130 plus yard rushers. After a slow start early in the 1st quarter, the Cavaliers front five started getting their feet under them and began to dominate the line of scrimmage against a solid Warriors defensive line. Led by stud tackle [player_tooltip player_id='866469' first='Austin' last='Hoane'], the Cookeville big men did a nice job of playing physical and maintaining that edge all the way into the 4th quarter. I'm sure the Cavs coaching staff is excited about their performance last week because if they can continue to get good play up front, winning their region is definitely in play.

Team of the Week

Collierville Dragons

- The Dragons almost earned this honor last week after defeating Beech but they had to be our team of the week this time around as they knocked off a very talented Bartlett squad, 29-19 in what was an impressive showing from both sides of the ball. Going into the season, I thought Collierville would be a playoff team but just barely making it. Now I think they can win the region, however it won't be easy as the Dragons still have games remaining against Houston, Germantown, Whitehaven and others. This start however shows how good Collierville may be, especially their defense that has been receiving excellent play up front from senior [player_tooltip player_id='1423595' first='Samuel' last='Iroh']. Beating Bartlett last Friday is one of the best win's of our young season and a statement victory that says a lot about the Dragons.

Positional Players of the Week

QB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='222957' first='Briggs' last='Cherry'] - Baylor ‘26

- Accurate and efficient throughout his team's 49-21 win over Coconut Creek (FL), Cherry has been a calm, consistent presence during all three games thus far with his game play continuing to get better each time he steps out onto the field. This may not be the last time we see Cherry earn this honor before the season's out.

RB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='811032' first='Javion' last='Kinnard'] - Pearl Cohn

- The Firebirds decided to run the ball and give it to Kinnard on a consistent basis during their commanding win over Montgomery Central and it paid off. This senior playmaker produced in a big way, using his speed and dynamic skill set to run around and through the Indians defense.

Stats: 29 carr. for 242 yds & 4 TD's

WR POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1431843' first='Emanuel' last='Palmer'] - Collierville ‘26

- Palmer made the most of all his catches in his team's big 29-19 win last Friday over Bartlett. The Dragons junior pass catcher has started to come on of late as the team's top wideout. Performances like last week will continue to push his stock further and place himself on the radar of college coaches.

Stats: 5 rec. for 178 yds & 2 TD's

ATH POTW: (QB/LB) [player_tooltip player_id='353388' first='Blake' last='Owen'] - Cookeville

- Owen was a one man wrecking crew for his Cavs during their 42-34 win over White County last Friday. His rushing on offense was a constant force throughout the night but his play on defense was probably more important. While the Cavs defense did give up some yards, Owen made several key stops at key moments to help secure the victory.

Stats: 20 carr. for 136 yds & 2 TD's; 4-8 passing for 68 yds & 1 TD (10 tcks, 2 TFL, 1 FF & 1 sack)

DL POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='1293394' first='Kenderrius' last='Robertson'] - Mitchell

- If it wasn't for his teammate, Robertson would be your Def. POTW. The Tigers senior edge rusher was all over the place last Friday, especially in the opponent's backfield where he put pressure on the quarterback all night while providing some violent hits on the football.

Stats: 9 tcks, 3 TFL, 1 FF, 2 FR & 3 sacks

LB POTW: [player_tooltip player_id='834631' first='Kaleb' last='Johnson'] - Knox. Catholic ‘26

- Against an out-state opponent, this junior linebacker stood out and had himself a breakthrough performance. Johnson stayed in the opponent's backfield where he produced four tackles for loss and three sacks on the night. His active play around the ball definitely peaks my interest as Johnson is someone I will be looking into much further.

Stats: 14 tcks, 4 TFL, 1 FF & 3 sacks

- - -

DB POTW: (S) [player_tooltip player_id='1230849' first='Locke' last='Kennedy'] - BGA

- The numbers are good for Kennedy but it was his impact on the field beyond the stats that earned him this honor. The Wildcats senior ball hawk was a key performer in last week's 35-28 victory over NCS. Kennedy made several big plays throughout the night that helped push his team over the top while continuing to boost his college stock.

Stats: 5 tcks, 1 TFL & 1 Int (3 rec. 113 yds on Off.)
