Continue ReadingI headed to Saginaw this afternoon to check out what ended up being a loaded camp. There were plenty of really good players that either earned offers, or at least raised their stock a ton in my eyes. From agility and speed testing, to agility drills, to position drills, to 1 on 1’s, this camp showed what these athletes could do and put them to the test! I’m excited to share some of those bright athletes that looked good today!
“JD” walked away with an offer today, and it didn’t take long to see why. Right from testing, you could tell he was moving well, running quickly, making light work of the agility tests, and winning off the line in 1’s. His release is so nice, and his catch radius is huge. I was incredibly impressed by how good he looked, and I am looking forward to seeing him develop.
Highlights
Alex posted a blazing 4.5 40 time, and jumped 9’3. He once again stood out as having probably the best looking frame of the backs in attendance. Once he got going on 40 times, he was making light work of hit with his quick twitch movement and incredibly fast feet. Getting out on the field, Guadagni toted the rock like he was ready for the next level. His route running is vastly improving, and he was doing a really nice job in 1’s. His stock is at an all time high in my eyes, and it is only continuing to go up.
Highlights
I can’t lie to you, I’m surprised Ali didn’t leave with an offer from the host. Wilmington College did extend an offer, and I will say right now he would be a steal for them. He moved way better than I expected in the 40, Ali exploded out of his stance in the broad jump, and he was moving his feet like a linebacker in the agility drills. Out on the field I didn’t watch him a ton, but I did see him win a couple reps and his videos on Twitter show good push and pull and some decisive victories. Ali is going to be a problem this fall for teams to try and neutralize!
Austin was a big bright spot in the trenches today. He has really nice footwork, he runs hard, and in 1V1 drills, he was dominant. He fires off incredibly fast and was just impossible to stay in front of. My counterpart Alex just named him to his MHSAA Showcase First Team, and he followed it up with a very good camp again at SVSU. Be on the lookout for him to lead that Romeo defense to some very strong performances.

At the MHSAA Showcase in Brighton, Wells was a breakout star. Again today he showed the same things that caught our attention on Wednesday. His footwork is sound, his arm is strong and he was making very accurate throws from deep. Today I got to see him display a little more of his athletic ability, and with his speed and agility mixed with his throwing talent, the Brighton Bulldogs are going to be a nightmare for defenses to stop.
Josh is another QB that really stood out. Josh made the trek from Perrysburg Ohio to throw in front of the SVSU coaches, and I think he was more than impressive. The way the ball leaves his hand looks so clean. His accuracy was good, and he seemed to really have some throw power. He really shined in position specific drills and 1 On 1 drills, and I could totally see why he received an invitation. He really looked the part this afternoon.
Highlights
Larner was able to land himself an offer today, and it was very well deserved. His attention to detail on his routes far exceeded a lot of the receivers in attendance. If the route was to be cut off at 5 yards, it was exactly 5 yards. No rounding it, no drifting. Just exactly as he was told. He had consistent success getting separation and making some very nice catches. He was able to adjust to the ball in the air, and pull down some contested catches. He performed pretty good in agility drills, but he really came into his own against live defensive backs.

While I think Wildes is raw overall, you can’t deny what he did today. He stuck out in the agility and running sections, where he was scooting much better than I anticipated in the 40, and cutting and changing direction extremely well. In 1 on 1 drills I didn’t see a ton of his reps but he was able to make a nice snag with the ball being just out of reach. I came away feeling positive about his raw ability.

Garrett was moving better than I anticipated, and he performed really well in position drills. He performed well enough to even walk away with an SVSU offer for his troubles! He he strong, he is physical, he has good footwork and gets out of his stance very well. Timmerman was sticking out every time I looked over at the bigs. I think he will have a good number of offers start rolling in very soon!
Everyone applauds Mason for his route running, and I will say it is something of beauty. Ever since I first watched him last summer at a couple 7V7 camps, he has steadily improved all of the other aspects of his game. He adjusts to the ball well, he tracks the ball in difficult situations, and he displays really impressive levels of concentration. Mason leaves SVSU with an offer, and he now holds D1 and D2 offers, with more on the horizon I’m plenty sure!
