Easton Conner Easton Conner Easton Conner 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Desert Mountain | 2028 State AZ runs like a guy who takes players trying to tackle him personally. That’s really the easiest way to explain it. He’s not just a physical back because he lowers his shoulder every now and then. He’s physical because defenders rarely get the ending they’re looking for. If you hit him high, he’s going to keep his legs driving. If you clip him from the side, he’s got the balance to bounce through it. If you don’t wrap up, there’s a good chance he’s turning what should’ve been a modest gain into something that makes the defensive coordinator start screaming. What makes Conner fun, though, is that he’s not just a straight-line bruiser. The contact balance is the headline, but there’s more to his game than that. He has enough burst to hit lanes before they close and enough lateral movement to make a defender miss in space. The patience to let blocks develop instead of just slamming into the first crease he sees is pretty rare for such a young player. That’s why he feels more polished than just “tough runner with good numbers.” The production backs it up too, with a monster sophomore season that included more than 1,600 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground.

If breaking through arm tackles counted as a signature Madden move, Easton Conner Easton Conner Easton Conner 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Desert Mountain | 2028 State AZ would be near the top of the list for that alone. He can absolutely make people miss when he has to, and there’s more lateral agility to his game than people might realize at first glance, but the feature trait is that flat-out refusal to go down once somebody gets a piece of him. If a defender doesn’t get him square and really wrap it up, there’s a good chance Conner is still moving. That comes from a really nice blend of lower-half strength, contact balance, and the kind of body control that lets him absorb hits without losing himself. You’ll see defenders think they’ve got him slowed up, only for him to bounce off the contact, keep his feet underneath him, and squeeze out another five or six yards that probably shouldn’t have been there. His sophomore year backed all of that up in a big way too, finishing with 1,673 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns while helping power Desert Mountain’s run to a state title. What I like about his game is that it’s not just force for the sake of force. There’s burst there, there’s timing to his cuts, and once he clears the mess, he has enough of a second gear to pull away and finish runs. He’s also really comfortable operating in traffic, which is something a lot of backs take time to develop. Conner presses the line well, trusts his blocks, and has a good feel for when to stay patient versus when to hit the gas pedal. He feels like a complete back because the physicality is obvious, but it doesn’t come at the expense of polish.

Conner was a driving force on both sides of the ball in Desert Mountain’s run to the 5A state championship finishing with 1,673 all purpose yards and 18 touchdowns while adding 45 tackles on defense. Possesses a well-built 5’11” 190 lb. frame with great natural strength and athleticism. At RB, he’s a downhill runner that creates explosive plays combining his speed and power. Tough to tackle, he’s got good balance to shed contact and break tackles at all three levels. Like his timing of lateral moves and stiff arms to avoid tacklers. Shows a sustained second gear once in space that allows him to separate from defenders and finish long runs in the endzone. Good ball security through contact. Moves up to #30 overall in the updated PRZ state player rankings and should see a bump in recruitment as the cycle progresses.

Easton Conner Easton Conner Easton Conner 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Desert Mountain | 2028 State AZ ‘s tape is the rare sophomore running back tape that looks truly complete. Vision? Check. Burst and speed? Check. Toughness and contact balance? Absolutely. His high‑motor style shows up snap after snap — the kind of back where any defender who gets caught flat-footed ends up in a no-man’s land. At that point, he can shake you or run you over without either one of them slowing him down much. What I love is how natural the game looks for him. He’s patient when he needs to be, decisive when the lane shows up, and strong enough to run through contact without losing his balance. Last fall the stat line backed it all up: 142 carries, 964 rushing yards at nearly seven a pop, and 18 rushing touchdowns, plus 23 catches for 255 yards and two more scores as a receiver — so he wasn’t just a runner, he was a full‑on weapon in the offense. For a kid this young, it’s hard not to watch him and think this is someone who’s only scratching the surface of what he’s going to become.

Easton Conner Easton Conner Easton Conner 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Desert Mountain | 2028 State AZ was the quiet thorn Canyon View could never quite pull out — the guy who kept poking holes in a really talented defense no matter how many bodies they rolled at him. CV has legit dudes at all three levels, and Conner still found ways to make his presence felt over and over again. He ran it 21 times for 86 yards, and none of it came easy — he was fighting through first contact, slipping out of would‑be tackles, and turning what looked like losses into two‑ or three‑yard wins that kept Desert Mountain on schedule. He converted the tough downs, protected the ball, and refused to let negative plays stack. That’s why he mattered so much: he wasn’t chasing explosives, he was controlling the game, play after play.

Conner was the swing vote in a three‑point win over Saguaro, and he did it by showing up everywhere. He touched the game in all three phases — offense, defense, and returns — and every touch felt like hidden yardage that tilted field position or kept Desert Mountain on schedule. He just popped with his twitch and how smooth he looked gliding around the field, whether he was slipping through chaos on offense, closing down space on defense, or flipping momentum on special teams. He’s a threat every time the ball finds his hands, and that makes his ability as a receiving back even scarier for opposing defenses. Desert Mountain didn’t bully Saguaro up front; they won with rhythm, spacing, and tackling, and Conner’s clean strikes and acceleration made those small edges feel big.

Easton Conner Easton Conner Easton Conner 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Desert Mountain | 2028 State AZ wasted no time making an impact as a freshman, stepping onto the varsity field at Desert Mountain and showing flashes of just how dangerous he can be. He’s dangerous as a receiving threat out of the backfield and isn’t easy to get to the ground once he has the ball. What stands out most right now is his vision. He sees the field incredibly well and seems to know where the space is going to open up before it even does. He’s got real juice once he hits the open field, with a second gear that lets him run away from defenders and the wiggle to make people miss in tight spaces. There’s also enough toughness in his game to bounce off tackles and keep plays alive. He’s already a well-rounded playmaker with great hands and a natural feel for the position. As he keeps developing that quick twitch and lowers his pad level a bit more, Conner’s going to become a seriously intriguing prospect to track.

2028 Running back Easton Conner Easton Conner Easton Conner 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Desert Mountain | 2028 State AZ is one of the most exciting underclassmen weapons that this Desert Mountain team will be thrilled to utilize. He competed on Varsity as a true freshman last season, compiling over 200 scrimmage yards, 147 of those yards through the air off of 7 catches and 3 total touchdowns. Conner’s most electric trait in his game is his vision, as he reads the field incredibly well and has remarkable anticipation. He showcases big-time playmaking ability, especially out of the backfield, with his smooth hands and elusiveness to make tacklers miss. His speed out in the open field is unmatched, as he can accelerate to another gear and burn past defenders. Conner is going to be one of the most electric playmakers that this Desert Mountain team aims to capitalize on.
