Robert Davis | Prep Redzone Scout
Jones has taken advantage of the offseason by seeking out additional reps and competing on the 7v7 circuit with Team Full Gorilla. The added competition has allowed him to continue developing as a quarterback and sharpen important areas of his game. Jones displays solid arm strength and confidence when attacking tight passing windows, particularly in the short to intermediate passing game where he thrives by delivering the football quickly and accurately. His timing and decisiveness allow his playmakers opportunities to create after the catch. The offseason momentum he has built should continue helping his development, especially as he works to strengthen chemistry with his receiving corps heading into the season. He has dedicated himself year round to his development and will be a name on the rise if he contiues the momentum.

Jones is a dual-threat QB. He has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, good acceleration, speed, balance, and jumping. Jones has a very good release paired with good throw power. Fluid throwing motion. Jones has a good touch on his throws making it easier for the receiver. Good ball placement skills. Does a good job on his deep throws with a high arch. Good pocket presence. Uses his quick feet to maneuver around and will use his scramble ability to get a first down. I’m intrigued to see how he does this upcoming season for Vista Ridge.

I had the pleasure of scouting Jones firsthand at our most recent Stock Up Showcase event, and he doesn’t disappoint. He has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, good speed, acceleration, and jumping. Jones has good throw power with a fluid motion. Very quick release and a smooth spiral. Good accuracy with good ball placement skills. Good progression speed. He didn’t play a lot last year, but with the graduation of Vista Ridge’s QB, look for Jones to have a prominent role going forward.

Jones is a dual-threat quarterback who served as a key piece for his JV squad for Vista Ridge, consistently setting the tone offensively. He shows the ability to make every throw on the field, using strong arm velocity to drive the ball outside the numbers. Jones is also effective as a runner, showing quickness and elusiveness when escaping the pocket and turning broken plays into positive yardage. His ability to make the first defender miss stands out on film. As he continues to develop and waits for his opportunity at the varsity level, Jones profiles as a high upside quarterback with intriguing tools.

It’s quick combined with a fluid throwing motion. During the 7 on 7 portion, he thrived. He used his good accuracy to make connections with his receivers downfield. He was great at leading the wide receiver to the ball. He stayed poised throughout. Missing a couple of throws didn’t phase Jones. He did a great job, and I’m excited for his future !
