Kirby has now stacked 3-straight 400+ yard and 3+ TD games, which hasn’t happened since 2021. He’s in full control of the offense and knows where to go with the ball at all times. It’s not just a few completions, either. 34 attempts, 37 attempts, and 37 attempts in the 3 games. Kirby has been let loose and is making the most of the season thus far.

Kirby has started the season with back to back games with over 400 yards and 3+ TDs through the air. However, this week, his 437 yards and 3 TDs weren’t enough to help them get over the hump against Bedford North Lawrence. However, it’s hard not to take note of Kirby thus far.

Kirby was lights out to start the year and absolutely torched Martinsville. He had 5 first half TDs and threw for 400 yards on the night. He was throwing guys open, hitting them in stride, and getting the ball out quick. His 407 yards and 5 passing TDs both led the state in week 1 and he looked as poised as ever. To put together that type of efficiency and production right out of the gate makes for a very impressive Week 1.

Kirby is coming off of a good season and made the most of his first camp of the year. He came in dialed in and was throwing good balls all day. He had some of the better throws to the outside and has a good sense of timing. He’ll put the ball right on his receiver anticipating the break. Kirby knows where he’s supposed to go with the ball and to protect it, which are always key focal points. I like Kirby and think he continues to impress.

It’s the first full season for Kirby under Center and what we saw on Friday was more than promising. He was quick with his decision-making and could put the ball right where he wanted it. While he only threw for 1 TD on Friday, I was so impressed with his poise in the pocket and deep ball. He hit his receivers in stride multiple times deep downfield and they never slowed up a bit. He’s then athletic enough to run, take off, and do damage with his legs. I was impressed with Kirby and am excited to see what he does through the rest of the year.

It was an overall solid day for Kirby. He had the most consistent accuracy of the day and once he got into a groove in the middle of camp, he never slowed down. He’s accurate and has a quick release. His hips typically follow through and he does a good job navigating in the pocket. He also has the arm to drop ball in over the shoulder as well as put some heat on it. During the 1 on 1 section he put a few balls in perfect places that made the DB look silly. He also tested well athletically and took advantage of every opportunity. It was a very good showing for the Junior QB.
