About Jaden

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I love getting the ball up field and will hit/take players with me if I need to. I see the field well and use that to my advantage. I can break tackles and love to use the stiff arm to add yardage to the play. Quickness and speed are two traits I use to my advantage as well as running my route well.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I feel I have a great personality and I pride myself on being mentally tough. I am a 3 sport varsity athlete (football, basketball and baseball) and to accomplish this at a high level an athlete needs to be mentally ready at all times. This is all while carrying a 4.15 GPA and in the top 3 of over 315 students academically.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

During several of my school years I have been involved as a Student Council member.  In this capacity I joined with other students to discuss and implement ideas and activities that would benefit our student body and our school as a whole.  I participated several times in running clubs and in community 5Ks. In the future I look forward to joining other clubs in my high school. I hope to join Renai

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

In sports, I have always been an unselfish, team player believing in the common good for all of the players. In general, I have a positive attitude and I do my best to respect my teachers, coaches, teammates, and classmates.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I face challenges every day and I have had some big ones come at me from time to time. I thrive on having to work hard to be able to achieve my goals to be successful as a student, person, or a teammate. I have failed at times, but it has taught me to be resilient and put focus on what matters in the future.

What type of college are you looking for?

I think my interest in any college will be one that has a diverse range of academic programs, particularly an undergrad program which could give me a solid background in business and particularly prerequisites for a medical career.  Right now, I don’t have a preference in college size.  I look forward to college visits where I can learn a lot about academic and student life. Gilbert is a great raw multisport athlete who made an impact all over the field last season. He played both running back and wide receiver and flashed at both spots. He’s got good speed and vision with the ball in his hands, and he was just as effective working outside as a downfield target. He finished the year with 352 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns to go along with 39 catches for 502 yards and 8 scores. Whether he was taking handoffs or stretching the field, he found ways to produce. There’s real versatility here, and he’s only getting started.

Gilbert is a versatile piece in the Beford Lawrence North offense in both the rushing and receiving game. He carried the ball just under 50 times and averaged 7.7 yards per carry. He didn’t waste his touches, to say the least. He then caught 39 balls for 502 yards and added 7 TDs. Gilbert’s 850 scrimmage yards and 9 TDs on the season certainly helped and showcased he can touch the ball a ton and have success. He’s fairly smooth and has a good IQ, so year 3 should be his time to shine.

Gilbert is a really good athlete who brings a lot of versatility to the offense. He finished the year with 39 catches for 502 yards through the air and added another 352 on the ground. He had 10 total TDs for the offense and did a good job making the most of his reps. Whether he’s lined up out wide, in the slot, or getting touches out of the backfield, he’s a threat to make something happen. He’s smooth in space, tough after the catch, and just finds ways to produce. With the way he was used this past season, he should be an even bigger part of the offense moving forward.
