Josh Ranes Josh Ranes 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB New Palestine | 2026 State IN is a very underrated player for New Palestine. Ranes came up with a timely interception in the first half, flashing athleticism and great ball skills and defense. Ranes can take interceptions to the house, and also contributes as a tough runner on offense who can finish forward on contact. High motor, high effort player.

Ranes is a talented linebacker, but he came ready to perform on offense when it counted most: he had four rushing touchdowns, tying a 4A state record per the IndyStar, and recorded 166 rushing yards. He is undoubtedly an under-the-radar recruit who Division I teams should take notice of.

It was a big night for New Pal’s offense and Ranes. He hit the endzone multiple times and was the guy they turned to down after down to move the chains. He wore down the defense, and as the game progressed, they didn’t want to hit him, which opened up even bigger lanes. Ranes had 3 1-yard TDs alone, and he then added 2 more on the night and over 150 yards on the ground. 1 of his 1-yard TDs was a collision in the trenches where he overpowered the defender and won. I love seeing physical plays like that where it matters most.

As the season progresses and the games intensify you need your playmakers to step up and Ranes came through in a big way for New Pal. He’s transitioned to playing both sides of the ball and Friday was a huge offensive performance. He couldn’t be stopped and gashed Yorktown every time he touched the ball. He averaged over 16 yards per carry and finished the night with 263 yards and 3 TDs.
