FBS schools value dynamic defensive lineman their recruiting boards. In the Fall 2021 MHSAA season, we will see an abundance of talent in the trenches that have college coaches interest. Here’s five of the top defensive line prospects to watch for:
Alex VanSumeren Alex VanSumeren 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL Garber | 2022 State MI , DT, Garber High School
6’3, 230lbs
Originally committed to Michigan, VanSumeren has recently de-committed from the Wolverines and is available for recruitment. Recently, he’s received offers from Auburn and Clemson. He has raw strength with a huge frame. His ability to disrupt the run game and get to the quarterback make him a dynamic interior lineman with scheme adaptability. With his current recruiting situation, VanSumeren will be a name to watch next season.

Walker is listed at 6’7 and 315 lbs, and his size certainly translates to the tape. He has similar raw strength to VanSumeren, and it will be exciting to see him in the future after a summer in a division one weight room. The ceiling is high for Walker.
