The class of 2022 is no exception and is full of extremely talented quarterbacks. Some at the top have already verbally committed to Power 5 colleges. This class is so loaded with talent that it was difficult to cut the list to 15 and very talented quarterbacks who will certainly play at the college level were left off.
Part one of this series was published on Tuesday. Part two was published on Wednesday.
Below are the top five quarterbacks in Southern California’s class of 2022.
5. Brandon Rose Brandon Rose 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Murrieta Valley | 2022 State CA , Murrieta Valley, Murrieta
The Murrieta Valley offense is a well-oiled machine and Rose is the perfect guy to be the head of the table. Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier went to Murrieta Valley and has had success at the next level and Rose may have more tools than him. Rose is smaller than Bachmeier but extends plays better. He puts his whole body into his throws, is very accurate and his confidence comes out through the film. He is fun to watch because he hits receivers in stride and also can throw into tight windows. Rose completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,087 yards and 30 touchdowns to just four interceptions. He has seven major offers including Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado and Northwestern.
4. Jayden Denegal Jayden Denegal 6'5" | 230 lbs | QB Apple Valley | 2022 State CA , Apple Valley, Apple Valley
Apple Valley’s offense is interesting but it works. They run a lot of 11 personnel but randomly throw in a full house set. Denegal is at his best when he is comfortable in the packet, planting his feet and throwing laser beams to receivers on crossing routes and corner routes. He is definitely a pro-style quarterback but Apple Valley often has him running mini sprint outs and he can throw on the run. In 11 games as a sophomore, Denegal completed 129 of 196 passes (65.8 pct.) for 2,260 yards with 34 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He isn’t afraid to take risks and reminds me of Jameis Winston. Winston was a national champion and number one overall pick. I don’t think Denegal’s ceiling is quite that high but he definitely can be a multi year starter for a Power 5 school. Recruiting experts believe he will go to Michigan State.

3. Noah Fifita Noah Fifita 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Servite | 2022 State CA , Servite, Anaheim
I first saw Fifita at the Battle at the Beach passing tournament in 2019 and he jumped out to me as one of the best quarterbacks of the day. When I found out he was only a sophomore I was shocked. He is only 5-foot-10 but has one of the best arms I’ve seen. His pocket awareness is great and he can take off for a first down whenever he feels like it. Fifita and receiver Tetairoa McMillan Tetairoa McMillan 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Servite | 2022 State CA are a joy to watch on film and may be the best quarterback receiver duo in the state. Fifita finished his sophomore year throwing for 2,894 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing 61percent of his passes in the Trinity League, arguably the toughest league in the country. He has offers from Arizona, Cal, Colorado State, New Mexico, Hawaii, Idaho State and Utah State.

2. Justyn Martin Justyn Martin 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB Inglewood | 2022 State CA , Inglewood, Inglewood
Martin is 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds and has the build of a basketball player. He has a good arm, makes difficult throws on the run and can extend plays with his legs. He has a smooth release and throws a great ball. He is an elite athlete who can make big plays and should put up massive numbers for Inglewood next month. He is accurate to all parts of the field and some of his film is from JV games and it just makes me feel sorry for the opponents that they have to play their JV players against this legitimate Power 5 caliber quarterback. Martin is verbally committed to Cal but we will see how many more schools try to steal him away after a successful short junior season.

1. Maalik Murphy Maalik Murphy 6'5" | 225 lbs | QB Serra - Gardena | 2022 State CA , Serra, Gardena
Murphy has less varsity film than anybody else on this list but his tools are undeniable. He has the best arm of anyone in the state and is accurate to all three levels of the field. Scouts and coaches love his intangibles and he steals the show at every camp and showcase he attends. He is verbally committed to Texas with only a handful of varsity snaps. I am assuming other schools will try to sneak in and poach him after an impressive junior season of film.
