E.J. Brown is another explosive running back in the 2025 class who remains uncommitted despite steadily rising stock. Doubling as a standout track athlete, E.J. brings elite speed and acceleration to the football field. His success in the 100-meter, 110-meter, and 400-meter hurdles is a testament to his athleticism and burst—traits that translate seamlessly into his game as a running back.
E.J.’s vision and ability to find and hit holes stand out on the field. Once he identifies an opening, his burst allows him to explode through the gap and take it to the house. He has a knack for making the most of every opportunity, showcasing the kind of open-field speed that puts pressure on defenses to account for him at all times. In today’s game, running backs who combine vision, speed, and acceleration are invaluable, and E.J. fits that mold perfectly.
Recently, after earning an offer from Florida Memorial University (FMU), E.J.’s recruitment could gain momentum as the transfer portal chaos settles. With his ability to bring instant juice to any running back room, he’s a weapon that college programs will covet. Expect E.J. to decide soon, and whichever school lands him will gain a dynamic playmaker capable of breaking games open with his speed and explosiveness.

has lived up to the hype in 2024 for Plainfield. The last time EJ was on the field, he put on a special performance against a talented Passaic Tech. In the 12-18 loss, EJ was still able to find success by running for 152 yards and finding the end zone once. EJ has now rushed for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns so far this year, but has one more game left in his high school career.
Plainfield will be squaring off against Westfield Thanksgiving morning, an opponent that has dominated the rivalry as of late. Plainfield will need to find production out of their lead back early on in the game if they want to get past Westfield. EJ is not only a shifty runner with the ball in his hands, but is one that will lower his shoulder and bring the hit to the defender in short yardage situations. As long as Plainfield can feed the ball to EJ up the middle, they should have no problems moving the ball down the field. EJ has a talent for getting skinny in the hole and emerging in the second level ready to put a juke on a defender.

showcased his explosiveness in this game, especially in the second half. Late in the third quarter, he broke off a massive run for over 20 yards, setting the tone for his performance. Shortly after, he capitalized on a turnover, punching in a three-yard rushing touchdown. EJ proved he can create big plays on the ground and finish drives in the red zone, making him a key factor in Plainfield’s offensive attack.

EJ Brown, a 5’9”, 160-pound running back from Plainfield, brings a lot of excitement to the field with his exceptional speed and explosiveness. As a track All-American in the 400 meters, his foot speed and burst through the hole are outstanding, allowing him to break away from defenders and score from anywhere on the field. However, to further elevate his game, Brown should focus on improving his ability to force missed tackles and develop more one-on-one moves in the hole. While his speed is a major weapon, enhancing his elusiveness and patience as a runner will make him even more dangerous on the field. With solid vision and the potential to refine his running style, Brown has the opportunity to become one of the most dynamic players in New Jersey.Additionally, his ability to catch the ball, demonstrated by his successful execution of a wheel route, adds another dimension to his game. Utilizing him more as a receiver, particularly with screens, will maximize his speed and playmaking ability on the outside.Overall, Brown is a promising talent with the potential to receive offers early in the upcoming season. With continued improvement and development, he has the makings of a standout player at the next level.

is back for more. Brown rushed 95 times for 666 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns, while adding 9 receptions for 123 yards as well as 56 tackles (40 solo) and 2 FF, FR, and Int a piece. A rarity, Brown also had one scoop-and-score and one pick-six to his stat line. Brown gets to top speed in about three steps and runs with a purpose as he approaches top speed and gains ground. He his subtly shifty in how he maneuvers to take away pursuit angles from would-be tacklers. Prioritizing the ball, Brown protects it as he rushes up the middle. When he does tote the rock, Brown runs with forward lean, which allows him to gain that extra yard, and with decent pad level. Defensively I would implore Brown to continue to refine his backpedal and continue to take smoother drops.
