Leading the pack across Northern and Central California is Pittsburgs Jaden Rashada Jaden Rashada 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Pittsburg | 2023 State CA and Clovis’ Nate Johnson. Below we will dive into and breakdown the film of some of the top Northern California quarterbacks that are flying under the radar and have D-I potential.
Anthony Garcia 6’3″ 180 Ibs., Capital Christian HS
One of the most athletically gifted players in all of Norcal, Garcia is a well put together Dual-Threat quarterback that runs a sub 4.6 40 YD laser timed and is extremely athletic in the pocket and while throwing on the run. Making tremendous strides since his Sophomore year, he shows a strong pocket presence with a quick/high release and throws with good velocity on deep balls and is accurate on intermediate/short throws while not afraid to check down to open receivers. A very smart prospect that scans the field well and works through his progressions, his elusiveness and open field speed really sets him apart from other prospects at the position. An elite overall athlete, he is a FBS caliber prospect that should start to draw college interest in the next few months.
Jack Quigley 6’2″ 200 Ibs., San Ramon Valley HS
Having a strong Sophomore year for one of the top teams in the state, Quigley also participated in the WCA league for Cal Strength and impressed. During this time, he showed good pocket mobility and presence while pushing the ball downfield well, especially while under pressure. Flashing good escapability skills and pocket awareness, he did a good job at throwing his receivers open and not losing zip on the ball while on the run. Quigley is also a very smart player that excels at looking off defenders and throwing accurate passes into tight windows on all three levels of the defense. He is another Norcal quarterback that will continue to collect FBS and FCS interest as he moves through the final two years of his prep career.
Kenny Lueth 6’5″ 210 Ibs., Rocklin HS
One of the most underrated athletes in the state, Lueth is somewhat of an unknown as he played JV during his Sophomore season for Rocklin. On tape, Lueth is extremely impressive and has a huge arm and ideal size for a pocket passer. Having a longer developing release, he is very accurate on deep balls while getting enough air under his throws to let his receivers run underneath them and can throw across his body with good spin. Standing strong in the pocket with fluid lateral movement abilities/can make defenders miss in the short area and tuck and run, he is also able to throw accurate passes to the opposite hash and on outbreaking routes. Lueth should be pulling in FBS and FCS offers as he enters into his hopefully Junior season for the Thunder.
Jackson Holt 6’5″ 215 Ibs., Oakdale HS
Holt has had one of the most productive extended off-seasons of any player in all of Northern California. Currently picking up his first offer from Yale, he had a very productive Sophomore season where he solidified his spot as being one of the best quarterbacks in the region. Having an ideal frame for a Pro-Style quarterback, Holt stands tall in the pocket and pushes the ball downfield with a strong arm and good spin while patiently working through his progressions and not forcing bad throws. Holt is a extremely smart quarterback that can throw into tight windows and sees the entire field while able to also throw outside the pocket. As he progresses into his Junior/Senior season, the strong armed signal caller will continue to to collect FBS offers.
Luke Rossi 6’2″ 200 Ibs., Palma HS
The top returning quarterback in the Central Coast Section, Rossi is a two-sport athlete that can play both baseball and football at the FBS level. A very efficient player that has a smooth and collected drop back while showing good pocket mobility and accuracy downfield, he is able to consistently hit his receivers in stride while anticipating them coming out of their breaks. Athletic enough to avoid pressure coming from all angles within the pocket, he can throw into tight windows from 35+ yards downfield with nice touch. A FBS caliber prospect, he should start to see his recruiting take off as he enters his Junior season for the CCS power.
Dominique Lampkin 6’1″ 185 Ibs., Serra-San Mateo HS
One of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the region regardless of class, the Serra High School product is coming off a good Sophomore campaign where he helped lead Serra to the state championship game last December. On tape, Lampkin is comfortable in the pocket and can throw on the run while posing a true threat in the running game with an explosive first few steps and open field speed through the third level. Possessing a quick release and having an accurate deep ball while being able to avoid pressure while keeping his eyes downfield, he currently holds one offer from Illinois State and should collect more FBS offers in the coming months.
