Freshman Stock Risers
The 2024 class in Arizona is highly impressive. The athleticism and talent in this group of players is off the charts, and looks very promising for Arizona high school football. A handful of freshman have been heating up their recruitment, including a duo from both Saguaro and Basha. Take a look at 5 freshman who are rising their stock:
Demond Williams, QB, Basha HS
Williams has been the most exciting freshman to watch. He hangs in the pocket well and delivers accurate darts downfield. Williams has solid arm strength and the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws. He hits receivers with good placement and timing, and does a good job getting the ball out quick when he needs to. He shows an nice trajectory and placement on deep balls and has matured very well. He can be a threat on the ground as well, making him a very promising young P5 prospect. He recently grabbed an offer from the University of Arizona, and holds notable offers from Florida Atlantic, Central Michigan, and Northern Arizona.
Miles Lockhart, DB, Basha HS
Lockhart is another talented freshman at Basha. He lined up at CB this past season and showed fluid hips and a good transition from his backpedal to break on the ball. He shows solid change of direction and closes well on shallow receivers. He did a great job shedding blocks against Mountain View to provide solid run support. He was just recently offered by Arizona State, which is only the beginning for the young P5 level prospect.
Jaedon Matthews, ATH, Saguaro HS
Matthews is part of a stacked Saguaro team. He lined up at RB this season and showed some flashes of big play ability. He utilized a nice jump cut at the LOS to make immediate opponents miss, then shows a solid burst once his sees an open lane. Excellent lateral agility to stutter, stop, or cut on a dime. He displayed very good speed for a 2024 kid, and recently landed an offer from Arizona State University. Saguaro is a feeding ground for D1 talent, so look for Matthews to heat up with recruitment.
Brady McDonough, QB, Desert Mountain HS
McDonough put up an insane 52 TD’s at the freshman level. He shows good arm strength and placement, frequently hitting receivers in stride. He hit all 3 levels of throws at the frosh level, and did a good job fitting balls into tight windows. He identifies matchups well, and plays much more mature than his age. He extends plays and can pick up yards on his feet. He recently landed an offer from the University of Arizona, and will continue to rack up offers for the next 3 years at Desert Mountain.
Jaci Dickerson, DB/WR, Saguaro HS
Dickerson is an excellent all around athlete. Limited film, but has shown loose hips and solid change of direction. He recently landed an offer from Arizona State, and will have a big opportunity to keep the offers flowing in as he should have a big role for Saguaro next season. Dickerson should see more P5 offers coming his way.
