During Frederick Douglass' 25-12 win over Bryan Station, he recorded 2.0 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss while helping hold the Defenders to 3.0 yards per rush on the night. He recorded five total tackles during the matchup. Bates can play both defensive tackle and nose guard, and can blow through inside gaps and disrupt plays before they get a chance to pan out. Herbst didn't throw the ball a ton, but was effective when he did. He finished the game 4-of-6 passing for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added six carries for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground as the Indians routed the Cardinals 63-12. Herbst is approaching 2,000 career rushing yards and is arguably the best athlete Madison Central has on its squad. Powell earned 17 rushing attempts for 177 yards and a touchdown, helping lead the Yellow Jackets to victory, including one chunk play that went 59 yards. Powell is shifty in the backfield who possess the ability to jab step and jump cut to help make defenders miss and create separation. DeGarmo finished the game with 16 total tackles against the high-flying Titans squad from the strong safety position. Collins almost exclusively throws the ball, so DeGarmo provided Anderson County a safety net as the last line of defense and played that role well and productively. He also logged 3 tackles for loss and seven tackles overall in the matchup. Hocker's 6'0" and 220-pound frame really seals off that edge by exploding off the snap. This can force teams to run between the tackles rather than attacking outside.
